Hep-C?  I told Joe and Nancy to infect her with HIV.  Idiots.  You just can't find good minions anymore.

Joey Arias was convicted for murder?

Can we arrange for all of them to kill each other?

The problem with Thunderdome, in this context, is that someone leaves.

Gah, the people who really care about Jody Arias are almost as tiresome as she is. We get it, the one in a bajillionth time a domestic murder is perpetuated by a woman, you get SOOO MADDDD. When's the last time there was a big media circus/hatefest circle jerk about a boyfriend who smashed his girlfriend into jelly?

nucrash: This really isn't fair.  Jody is only directly responsible for the death of one person while Nancy had two(At last count) of her interviewees kill themselves.  That is to say the amount of irreparable harm a generation experienced because they opted to watch her performance on Dancing with the Stars probably melted a few brains as well.  Then we have Joe Arpaio who is an old racist who should be of a bygone era that keeps coming back.  Who knows who died under his watch.

So all in all, I would say of the three people Jody Arias is probably the least deserving of being behind bars.  Then again, I did crazy chicks who aren't trying to kill me or burn my home down.  I was honestly interested until I found out she had implants.  Now the prison system can keep her insecure ass.

It's the breast implants that turned you off. Not the stalking and killing and crazy. The breast implants.

Try never. That crap happens pretty much every day, and the only time it's ever in the news is if the boyfriend was a celebrity (preferably a Kennedy).

Oh we have that one murder...no that was a woman.  How about...no, celebrity.  Well we have hundreds of...oh yeah they were mentioned all of once and dropped off the news radar.   OH!  I know!  Scott Peterson!  Random dude murders his wife and stays on television for years!

Of course it happened back in 2004...

Actually you're both being a *bit* unfair.  We get Nancy Grace going apeshiat over those stories all the time, but there are enough "man murders his woman" stories in our nation of 300 Million people that we rarely fixate on one for very long.

Fact remains, fixating on this one is stupid.

I managed to miss this story for the most part, and my reaction to the headline was, "who?  Oh, musta been one o' them, 'fixate on a murder because we're not news, we're infotainment' stories."  Lucky me.

Give me an example of a national news story involving a non-celebrity male murderer who killed his girlfriend. Something similar to the Arias case, involving a male perpetrator who was unknown prior to the murder, that got gavel-to-gavel coverage from the cable networks. I can't think of one, because it doesn't fit a sexy narrative. The killer psycho biatch, which is quite an unusual occurrence, has spawned an entire movie genre, just like the little white girl kidnapped by a stranger (another very rare occurrence). Nancy Grace literally feeds off stories like that.

From his website:

Another program Arpaio is very well known for is the pink underwear he makes all inmates wear. Years ago, when the Sheriff learned that inmates were stealing jailhouse white boxers, Arpaio had all inmate underwear dyed pink for better inventory control. The same is true for the Sheriff's handcuffs. When they started disappearing, he ordered pink handcuffs as a replacement.

Ah, Scott Peterson. Forgot about him. That was a "missing pretty pregnant woman" story before they figured out he did it, though. If he'd been caught red-handed the way Arias was, it would never have been a national story.

I'm imagining her squatting over a bowl of shredded newspapers, transcripts, and fan-mail drenched in light beef gravy while her prehensile labia scoop the dripping mush into her vagina, which mashes the pulp noisily.

Am I far off? Maybe it's a porcelain trough?

My gripe is the wretched way that cable news covers court cases. Certain narratives get a LOT of attention (missing blonde girls, women who kill, anything involving celebrities) and it perpetuates a lot of dumbness among the public. If they covered violent crimes in proportion to the rate at which they occur, we'd probably have better protection for victims of domestic violence, and more people would know what the typical murder victim looks like (he's a young black guy). The straight news media, particularly newspapers, do a better job.

I certainly have my doubts about both Sheriff Arpaio, and Ms. Grace. I have little doubt that both of them have done unsavory things.
In this particular case, though, I think they may actually be innocent of what they are being accused of..
