riverwalk barfly: Because this is just a fad.
Champion of the Sun: Again? Seems like its record store day every other month.
jmr61: Boff I have 10,000 pieces of vinyl.[www.back9network.com image 300x450]
12349876: My favorite music is too obscure to be available on vinyl.
jj325: Vinyl is a passing fad. The next big thing? 8-Track[dvp14a235i3p5.cloudfront.net image 500x342]
hubcity: See, I think records are fun. The whole package is the thing you want to own, not just the music. (Assuming there is a whole package.) It's an "edition", not just a "record".That's probably why I have so bloody many of them, including the first I ever bought (The Beatles' "Get Back".) The latest, as of today, is LCD Soundsystem's "The Long Goodbye".I'd even submit that record sales went down in the CD era not just because CDs were pop-and-click free, but album design became cheaper and cheaper, eventually just using a blown-up copy of the CD cover design. Given the choice, you'd take the one that doesn't skip, but neither choice was as much fun as the really great album covers from the '70s. ("Thick As A Brick", anyone?)DJing with vinyl is way more fun than DJing with CDs or digital files. Trust me on that.
Mr. Coffee Nerves: Meanwhile the limited release stuff is already up on eBay.
NeoCortex42: Just got back from my local record store. Apparently they had people waiting in line by 7:30 for a 9am opening. It was still pretty crazy when I got there.
FeedTheCollapse: Vinyl: because when everyone has access to every recording ever, how else are you going to prove your superiority?
NeoCortex42: jj325: Vinyl is a passing fad. The next big thing? 8-Track[dvp14a235i3p5.cloudfront.net image 500x342]I'm waiting for the resurgence of the minidisc:[www.11points.com image 400x300]/Checks Wiki. Holy crap! They were still making these until last year.

listernine: Does anyone else enjoy playing 45s at the wrong speed?
Repo Man: 78s are where it's really at. I played Black Sabbath at 78 speed. I saw god.

Smackledorfer: Nintendo games are best played on the original system. You get a physical box and instructions to touch instead of downloading just a pdf.You get graphical errors and glitches when the connection is bad. This adds to the playing of the game and makes it far superior to an emulator.
aimtastic: Vinyl is so mainstream. I only listen to wax cylinders.
nijika: aimtastic: Vinyl is so mainstream. I only listen to wax cylinders. Not anymore...
Ryker's Peninsula: I always really loved picture discs and colored vinyl. The coolest one I ever had was Styx's "Paradise Theater" where if you held side two up to the light at the right angle, there was like an oil slick looking printing of their band logo.
