Delilah, has not been near a male camel for more than a year.

*Extremely quick Google search*

Camels have a gestation period of 13-14 months or around 410 days

Your camel's a hussy.

/Guess what day it is!

Meh, am not surprised. A camel's never gonna have problems... finding a hump.

If this were the farmer's doing, the Bedouin would have long ago had some splain' to do.

Ignorance of the gestational cycles is news!

Our course it's not the farmer. He only went up the camel's pooper.

Sadly, I think camels cannot do this thing when forming babby.  If anyone's interested in The Science, it is here:

Are they normally that color?

There's two "out of the blue" references in the article, but no direct comment on the color of the animal...  I've never seen an animal with blue fur before.

There is a matter of parthenogenesis to consider, where embryos grow and develop without male fertilization. This has been observed in many species, including insects, birds, reptiles, crustaceans, and even some sharks, but there's no record of it ever occurring in mammals, and besides it produces a half-clone that is always female.

The family will keep the male baby camel and are running a competition to name the new arrival.

My vote is for "Anakin".

Made me think of one of those old muskets with the bell flare at the end.  When you have horrible aim, use a shotgun.

You know what they say, two heads are better than one. Snakes (and many lizards) have a hemipene - essentially a two-headed penis. This is held inside the body for most of the year, but can be squeezed out in an erect state when needed for mating. Imagine squeezing toothpaste out of the tube - but instead of toothpaste, you get a two-headed spiny snake penis. Now go brush your teeth.

Doris the camel lives on a farm with no other male camels - so it came as a big shock today when she gave birth.

Do I have to do everything?

"Andrew, who runs the farm shop near Richmond, North Yorks, joked that he half suspected Jimmy the llama in the pen next to Doris may be responsible, because he is such a rascal."

Oddly enough those species can hybridize, but I've only found mention of it in the cama, by a male camel out of a female llama.

What species can trolls hybridize with?
