Well, subby, this does affect those of us who are married, have a girlfriend, have seen a woman, etc...

Some days you jsut want to hand everything over to the criminals since they seem to have a better grasp on how to work things than the "experts".

And often cheap glass-jar candles, if you or your significant other enjoy nice smells. Like $2 clearance prices on the big ones that Yankee Candle would sell for $27 or something silly.

You, they keep breaching this stuff and that whole "cashless society" idea is going to roll over and die.

Is this the thread where we all defend out man cards? Cuz, you know, I actually like nice frames for my photographs without having to either: explore the wonders of the WalMart clientele, or pay my monthly paycheck for the local snob shop to frame my work in rare petrified buffalo dung wood.

You also can't beat the prices on their frames!  If you want a poster frame or really nice frame for photos, it's the best place to go, especially when they run their sales... as an artist this place is my top recommendation for that sort of thing.

This is why it take 10 minutes to cancel charges and get a new credit card when a fraudulent charge appears, and why nobody (IMHO) should ever use a debit card. It's really quite amazing how primitive our financial systems are. I get that there is a huge cost to upgrade but at some point it must be done. Of course it won't be done properly but hey.

Case in point: BoA recently sent me a replacement card with a chip. I took it to Canada and tried it out. For small purchases, I did not have to enter a PIN. For large purchases, I still had to sign a paper receipt. Baby steps, I guess.

Since when is there a dislike for Michael's?

I don't always shop there, but when I do, I like the stuff they have.  And their prices are pretty good.

I mean, if you have a couple of kids that occassionally need to build models from misc. art materials, it's the perfect place to go.
For the record, I openly admit that when they have a model building project, I get almost as excited about it as they do.  You never have to work hard to get my help in building a model.

I've spent quite a bit of time there as well. This reminds me I should really finish carving that pipe someday.

My mom dragged me into a Michael's during Christmas season one year.

You know when you have sinus drain on one side and it makes your eye on that side water, and it feels like toxic acid is draining down your throat?

Imagine that on both sides, but in a different flavor on every isle. That place is evil.

As someone who was in Information Security for almost a decade, at company that was involved in an "early big breach," I'm getting a kick.

Some places have shiatty security people, some places have good security people, and almost all have upper management that is clueless when it comes to computer security.  All you need is some eager sales manager who talks to his VP to get some big "oh, no, not a good idea guys" project going while yelling REVENUE!!1!!! and you'd be surprised how quickly security policies and procedures get tossed out.  Add in some lazy programmers and you're in for a treat.

Hey, I got a really nice starter-level airbrush with one of their 50% off coupons, so don't give me crap for shopping there.

Mrs. Rat and I shop at Michael's, and are proud of it.

Ok, maybe not proud. But it's still cheap and convenient.

Bad news for you, bub.  Both are run by ChristoFascist Dominionists.

You want crafts without supporting the Evangelical Bible-thumping polical action force?   Too bad.  Crafts=Christ.

Damn, I suspected, but didn't know for sure.

Hopefully Jo-Ann fabric is run by nice satanists, so it evens out, because I love craft stores.

Probably not, they had "last supper" fabric at Jo Ann's a few years ago. Still kicking myself for not buying it to make aprons for a couple of my snarkier friends.

This is why I only shop at the dollar tree.

Other than not having to worry about putting on my good pair of sweatpants, no one wants to steal CC info from someone who shops at the dollar tree because we never have money!.

Meh.  They have solid color t-shirts on sale regularly for $2.50 or $3.00 each.  GF's kid outgrow them as fast as we buy them.  So it's a worthwhile trip for that.

I used to work at a Tandy leather store and I feel the same way!  Also, I used to work at Michael's which was cool until they started messing up my pay checks and then taking 6 months to solve the problem.

That's spelled pysanky . And yeah, it's Ukrainian. A friend showed me how to do it once, it's harder than they make it look! The most important thing is to start with the lightest color first - wax over what you want white. then do light yellow and wax over what you want to keep light yellow. etc.....

The wax-drawing tool - and overall technique - is actually very similar to batik, which is the same idea but on flat cloth.

/has tried any number of weird crafts
//buys beads at Michael's sometimes
///really, we shouldn't be dissing Michael's about this... the ***IRS*** told me they got breached and my data might be stolen, and they have my SSN!
