Recoil Therapy: Wow, what a finish.

Good game Stars, just a little too little too late or you may have tied it & then taken it with that momentum in OT.

/glad it didnt' work out that way though

See ya in Dallas, hope the home cooking treats the Stars well.

Great game to cap off an awesome round 1 though. Wonder how much of this caliber playoff-hockey my liver can take.

jaylectricity: LesserEvil: Because this is the Red Wings, not the Penguins. Now granted, this was Datsyuk... but it was a wrist shot just inside the blue line, the kind of shot every goalie wants back, and it happened late in the game.

And no, this is not an answer. A goal that gets by a goalie that he wishes he had back says nothing about a mindset.

Sure it is an answer. Are you a goalie? Are you Rask? You seem very concerned. The Red Wings are not the Penguins, they are the scary underdogs who were hot at the tail end of the season and extended their winning streak to 4 versus the Bruins going back into the regular season. Giving up a late goal, without even moving, from the blue line? Goalies don't like being beaten that way. I suspect getting the star and all those great saves won't console Rask that he lost the game on one shot.

I think the Red Wings will score at least 3 on him Sunday.

Hopefully none because then Perry may get the same for his "hi, how's it going" tonight...

Are you not watching any more hockey for the next week?  We've got a LONG way to go to get to R2 (not quite so far for the Habs & Ducks...)

Totally didn't happen.  Lucic has no idea what you're talking about.

2 games minimum.

sno man: Flappyhead: Stepped out for a few previous engagements.  You boys did the checklist proud tonight.

You need to pop in earlier...

Well I obviously won't have that problem for a little while.  Thanks bro, you didn't have to.

By worse I meant better. Let's see what happens in Dallas before you write them off so quickly.

2014-04-19 01:06:07 AM
I'm not writing off either Tampa or Dallas.  Just that Montreal & Anaheim being up 2-0 have a shorter path to round 2 than anyone who's currently 1-1 or 1-0.

2014-04-19 01:08:00 AM
Although looking at it, nobody is at 1-1 right now. That may change tomorrow though.

I wouldn't go betting the farm just yet.  The Habs and playoff leads are like Montreal hookers and rich men, they both like to blow them.

This though San Jose and the Kings still have the chance of beating each other senseless.

Allegedly.

Dallas would play SJ this close, honestly. Pacific Division will be hard to win for anyone.

Yikes... What a hangover.

Hell of a game between Detroit and Boston. Would have preferred a different outcome, obviously, but I think we're in for a doozy of a series.

Hopefully the Bs can get some experienced bodies back and find a way to beat Howard.

See you Farkers later for the festivities.

they had 25 shots but only one real scoring chance. I also drank a lot, so my scoring chances count could be off. Sucks they had a couple guys out even after 5 or 6 days off

Paille and Kelly were missed last night... Tuukka played well, but the Wings got a bit of puck luck at the right time while the Bs didn't.

I still think the Bruins will grind the Wings down and take the series, but we'll see soon enough.

My first one. Was it good for you too?

Not too bad, not too bad.  Nothing like last year's spectacular one with Anderson's Pooper around this time (in the profile) but that one was one for the ages...

Nice nut shot by Perry...except for the poor guy on the receiving end

Holy crap I had forgotten about that!

I was checking something in my profile the other day & saw it again.  It was one of the more spectacular ones I've seen let alone been involved in.

And they'll give up at least 4. One of the reasons they only scored one is because they were so concerned about defense. They have a far inferior defense to the Bruins. They had to play the Bruins game to barely beat them. The Bruins have been doing this all season. Whichever team resorts to playing the other team's game is going to lose. They got lucky tonight, and I know a lot of hockey includes puck-luck. The Bruins will get theirs.

i thought it was interesting that the bruins actually believed they could get the wings to play a harsher game simply because the Bs came out hitting anything that moved, and seemingly at the 10:00 mark of the 1st period decided quit the scheme entirely.  they were looking for that quick goal, along with the support of the often fickle home crowd.  from that point on the bruins adopted their shell and had 4 guys stand at the blue line (also taking the crowd out of it - ask a jersey fan what their building is like).

as you said, the wings cant possibly play the bruins game, but they have the more dynamic offense, and so neither can the bruins play the wings game.

it would seem, then, that the bruins have already decided to adopt a trappish mentality.  any person comparing these two teams on paper would arrive at the same strategy.  inevitably, this leads to the wings having to improvise (which is very doable for detroit - the pavel goal being a testament to this), and the bruins ultimately having to reshape the scope and purpose of their offensive attacks rather than sitting back and waiting for a defensive misstep.  the first period of game 2 is gonna be crucial in dictating the flow of the series.

god damn i type too much.
hockey!
