This may have been the first time 'Leafs' and 'Playoffs' has been used together in a sentence for several decades.

Sorry, without the Fox 'glow puck', I'm not sure you'll get many more viewers south of the border.

Nah, every year there is a variation of the headline "Once again the Leafs miss the Stanley Cup Playoffs".

In the last twenty years, a team from North Carolina has won more Stanley Cups than all the teams in Canada combined.

They sell out plenty of games when Detroit/Pitt/Buffalo are in town.

But there are no fights in the playoffs! I've been told hockey can't survive without the fights because there would be no reason to watch.

Not true.  Some of the most epic fights of all time have occurred during the playoffs.  They just aren't gratuitous.

There were at least two "clangs" behind him as well, I'm pretty sure. It was sure a hell of a game, though. Both teams had long, long puck possession times in the other team's end at times, although just eyeballing it, I'd say the Hawks had more. Any word on Toews' availability for the rest of the series? I know he was just back from injury and Reaves put a pretty good crunch on him during the second OT that seemed like it could keep him out. St. Louis is still expecting Oshie and/or Berglund back at some point in this series, too, I believe. Hopefully, that'll keep Steve Ott from getting any more top-line minutes with Backes and Steen.

What do the Leafs have to do with the Playoffs?

Q: What do college students and the Maple Leafs have in common?
A: They've both finished their year by April.

Q: Why is the Hockey Hall Of Fame in Toronto?
A: It's the only way Leafs fans can get to see the Stanley Cup!

Q: What is the difference between a Maple Leafs fan and a baby?
A: The baby will stop whining after awhile.

Let's Go, Bruins!!!

I'm all for piling on the Leafs, but they were in the playoffs all of last year.

And collapsed in epic fashion.

Jokes about how they never make the playoffs ignore that collapse.  Let's not ignore that collapse.

Oh I've been to a few, but there's no substitute for NHL caliber hockey. Still fun though and some beers make it even more fun.

Not majoring in a 5,000 year old dead language but something of actual interest to me. Besides, I have a previous thesis I am recycling parts of for my literature review. Problem is, working in the school system means working along always changing time lines without changing dead lines.

Don't know their status yet...All I do know is that the winner of this series is going to be a bloody pile at the end and possibly quick dismissal bait in the next round

Not exactly. Just my field of study is rather narrow and little new research has come about since my previous thesis less than two years prior. This is a pilot study for a new instrument for an eventual dissertation. Still rewriting everything, just senseless for me to try to find anymore new literature than what I have.

Watching Jonathan Quick try to leg hump a shark player last night was amusing.

I've never seen a player do that. Maybe he lost a bet.

The best part of watching games from the dub is the beers aren't $8-$10.  In Brandon anyway.

i hear ya.  i once specifically chose a topic for a paper that had never been researched before.  spent 3 months on it, failed the class (C+), and all because the professor claimed a lack of previous research on the topic.  meanwhile, my classmates literally wore suits one day and presented powerpoints they made the night before.  they all got As.

good luck, man.  at least youll get to watch some games.

Hopefully by the time the Leafs win the Cup they'll have the same technology in Man of Steel that allowed Jor-El's consciousness to converse with Superman / Kal-El so I can enjoy the parade up Yonge Street despite the fact that I'll be already dead for 60 years.

Go Sharks. Get to round two.

Sigh.
