Interesting that so on a list of 50 cancelled games, that "World of Darkness" didn't make the cut. An MMORPG based upon the popular tabletop RPG "Vampire: The Masquerade", CCP (makers of EVE Online) actually bought up White Wolf Studios to get the rights to make this game, and languished over it for eight long years before killing it a week or so ago.

Considering the date this article came out, I figured it was the cancellation of WoD that triggered writing the article in the first place, but apparently not.

Dirty Harry probably would have been cool.

2014-04-18 09:11:13 AM
I remember seeing the E3 trailer for Prey 2. It looked pretty damn cool, kinda like the first trailers for Bioshock Infinite (the ones that look nothing like the actual game). Apparently they had a lot of very lofty goals that they just couldn't work out.

mad that I had to go to p3 to find Eternal Darkness, but at least it made the list.

What about anything from Lucasarts the company that Disney shut down? Or another TIE Fighter? You cocks.

2014-04-18 09:27:11 AM
As it's not officially canceled, I'm still holding out hope for Starcraft: Ghost someday.

Ive played the leaked thrill kill, was a fun game.

Mugato: Or another TIE Fighter?

A simple (no joystick-required), visually-stunning, and large-scale multiplayer update to TIE Fighter would get me back into gaming.

Yeah, I really wish that was still going to be a thing.  According to wiki, it may yet be revived, but I'm not hopeful.

No joystick? How can you fly an X-Wing with no joystick/flightstick?

I played the originals with mouse/keyboard.  Sooo much more precise!

I know games from movies and shows usually suck, but I would love a Stargate game. There's so much material there I think if done well it could be pretty badass.

Yeah, no joystick ruins it. I remember trying to play with a mouse after my brother moved out of the house and took the joystick with him. It was not good.

FirstNationalBastard: Dirty Harry probably would have been cool.

It sounds like it would have been.

It might have been cancelled because it sucked.  Same with all the others.

Joystick-optional would be fine. I jJust don't want to be forced to use one.

/Got into PC gaming before PC joysticks existed.

Come to think of it, I haven't really seen a flight stick in any stores nowadays. I'm obviously not a gamer but I can't imagine playing TIE Fighter without a stick.

/only game I ever beat

They'll probably cancel the Firefly Online game after showing the cutscenes all out of order.

I will always mourn the cancellation of American McGee's Oz - but I hear he's got Spicey Horse working on a new one.

A Road Rash update would be rather nice.  I played the hell out of that game.  The Avengers game looks like a complete mess.

My thoughts as well. If it was to be made now though, it would likely consist mainly of wrestling things and hunting ghosts.

I always thought they screwed up with Warhammer Online by trying to compete with a setting too similar to WoW instead of going for a 40k MMO. (And, yes, I do realize Warhammer existed before Warcraft.)

I haven't tried it yet, but there is a Stargate game out for android.  Uses the voice actors from the show and the story was written by the author of several sg-1 novels.

I'm surprised no one has made a Half-life mod in an attempt to create it.

Star Wars 1313 should have garnered a mention

As someone that went to E3 and got to see a private showing, it did look pretty good especially with the freedom of movement and mobility. I think that hurt them the most was people didn't have as much faith in a title that didn't have a multiplayer component.

This was the same conference where I shared a beer behind closed doors for the new Brothers in Arms and later listened to Randy Pitchford lie to my face about Aliens: Colonial Marines.

I woulda loved to play Thrill Kill Lol, gotta love that still from the game before you hit the play button on that vid.

I'll never lament any "online" game that never came to be. I've grown to loathe them, at least the way they are delivered in big titles, like Elder Scrolls. Why the fark do I need to pay $60 for a game that I then have to pay a monthly fee to play?!? Screw that.

Speaking of the Alien franchise (and not speaking anything about that abortion they call Aliens: CM) anyone else cautiously optimistic about Alien: Isolation? Sounds like they learned from the mistakes and are making it a true survival/horror game. They've flat out said there's no weapons and fighting the lone alien will result in death. Sounds pretty interesting. I won't be pre-ordering it, but I will keep it on my radar for when reviews roll in.

It's changed a bit since its original reveal. From what I've been hearing, there will be weapons/customization because of fighting against fellow soldiers that start going crazy or some shiat.

Despite not having a fondness for strategy games, I can appreciate the dedication The Creative Assembly puts into their games.

The one that hurt me on the list was Starcraft Ghost. I was looking forward to getting a new Starcraft game and Ghost looked amazing. Also miss Star Wars 1313. Most of those cancelled games did not bother me.

Glad and sad to see Stalker 2 listed.

I played this:

I don't know if they added controller support, but it was fun.

There was going to be a Babylon 5 Space Combat game called Into the Fire which looked good.  It was canned about 14 years ago, though.

Meh, most of those games look like they were better off cancelled. A few, maybe...

If you think the Fallout MMO is cancelled then you're just silly.

/Elder Scrolls MMO is just the tech demo for Fallout...

They were making an FPS called Stargate Alliance that looked promising a few years ago, but cancelled it. Had the show actors doing the voice work and everything.

Man, all those games I was excited for that got killed. Six Days in Fallujah, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2, and Stargate Worlds all looked really exciting to me. Why do we not get these things, but we are on Call of Duty 50000; Cod of war.

They mention Mega Man Universe as the bigger deal than Mega Man Legends 3 (which is mentioned in passing)? That was a much tougher blow considering just how badly Capcom botched the PR and how they've never really denied the claim that it was to get back at Inafune for leaving to start his own company.

They didn't even release the Prototype Version (which by all accounts was nearly done and was highly polished) for a few bucks to test the waters on making a full version like they promised: the whole project was scrapped two months after the supposed release date of the Prototype (which they said was delayed and coming soon) and just abruptly announced the project was dead and there was no interest on their end of reviving the franchise. In fact, besides a fan game that they ended up releasing on the official Capcom website there hasn't been another Mega Man game in the three years since this all went down.

My dad was so excited when he found his office in The Getaway. It's a shame they didn't allow free roam from the beginning, else he would have been able to find all the apartments he lived in too.
