Did the dinosaurs drink the continents into existence and make the oceans salty with their pee?

I liked Waterworld.

batlock666: I liked Waterworld.

It is one of my favorite movie. Would have been done on the cheap these days. CGI and such.

I liked it too.

But I really have poorly discriminating taste in movies, and I recognize that. I like most of Costner's movies, for instance. I think the problem is that I am more easy to suspend my disbelief than stop and question why x happens a certain way. I'm just along for the ride, maybe see a fun story.

I liked Waterworld too, I don't know why so many people whine about it being unrealistic. Then they go watch a movie like Star Trek or The Avengers and cheer.

I never understood the Waterworld hate. Sure it's not the best movie in the world, but it's still quite entertaining.

This.

Suspension of disbelief is all it takes.

At least it wasn't this headline -

Waterworld was a good movie, Just gets a bad rap because of people who made fun of the cost overruns. It is also a long movie so you have to put a bit more brain power into enjoying the movie. Sure there were silly parts but they weren't terrible. Costner loves the epic movie and I think he does a good job making them. He makes the action seem more realistic by spreading the story out over days and months, not all condensed into a short time frame. Gives the story and characters a chance to develop. It worked well for the Postman too. Although I think the Postman had a whole lot more going on and good have been done better as a mini-series.

I always chalk up people who think Costner and his films as being bad as people who can not pay attention for more than an hour and a half.

yep, liked Waterworld, and The Postman too.

CSB: The Postman was the first DVD i ever rented. Didn't have a DVD player myself yet, but my work laptop dual booted Windows NT 4 and Windows 95. Only the Win95 boot had DVD drivers.  Good times, good times.
