It's a good thing those guys were wearing helmets, bet it was hard to not to cry a bit at escorting a child's body. Big salute to those guys for making his wish come true.

On one hand, mad props to them for doing it.

Kinda along the lines of my thoughts as well.  Except I would just flat out cry.

Largely because of this:

It's ironic. He could save others from death, but not himself.

I for one want to know how Matt Smith "sung" the doctor who theme. Kid was a huge nerd, truly a loss.

Did you catch that Matt smith sang him the theme to doctor Who?

God, it must have been impossible for him to not break down sobbing. And not just because it's an instrumental song

This is super sad.  I also don't know if this would have ruined Star Wars for me or made me a religious fan if I were one of his parents.

I have a 13 year old son. I don't know how parents who lose young children handle it. I'm pretty sure the pain and grief would kill me. Rest easy, little one...

I don't think I'll ever change my mind that David Tennant was the best Doctor ever, but Matt Smith is easily the best person to play the Doctor ever.

The article didn't say if these particular troopers were part of one of the big Star Wars groups, like the http://www.501st.com/

But I think its epically cool when fans come together to truly help one another like these guys did for this little boy.

My son will be 4 in June.

I need to leave work and run to daycare to give him a big hug. :(

They were probably better off keeping the event small and not letting the Star Wars theme completely overwhelm the mourning, but can  you imagine the turnout if this had been widely publicized?  They could have had the entire Star Wars universe present.

These terminally ill kids end up in the hospital with nothing to do for hours on end.  Movies play a huge role in their lives to not only pass the time, but also escape from their own situation.

I wonder if the kid really understood he wasn't going to see the funeral when he wished for it. Downer story.

One of my closest childhood friends just died from a brain tumour, so I'm getting a kick in the gut from this
story.  Doubly so because he would also have wanted a STAR WARS themed funeral.

/Salute to the UK brigade of the 501st for helping this happen.

What's really gonna suck is when the parents open up their photo albums a few decades from now and find out all the pictures of their son have been replaced with pictures of Hayden Christensen.

Matt's awesome, but Jon Pertwee was pretty full of win himself, so it is a hard call.

Hey, that made sense in the context of the story. Anakin never looked like the guy who appeared as a ghost in the original ROTJ. Now that we know what he looked like before he got all farked up, we know that as appearing as a ghost he had the choice between appearing as Hayden Christiansen or a burned up head and a torso, which would have freaked Luke out.

my guess is probably not, I don't think a 4 year old can fathom the concept of not existing.

Themed funerals (and weddings) are ridiculous. Cultures develop paradigms for these for good reasons.

Or  have someone on the I.S.S. launch a capsule containing your ashes over the Earth  using a slingshot.

/That's what I'd like done with my ashes.
