Besides crushing cost of living, perpetually cold and gray skies, a political culture that could rival Best Korea's in insanity and vehemence, there was this need to complain about EVERYTHING. There's no cause so trivial, no use of property so private, that someone in the Bay Area can't gin up some outrage and Demand Action.

Usually because a) Shut up and b) Root Cause!


Always amuses me that people from that area think themselves so liberal, yet act so restrictively.  Their favorite word is "forbidden," as in, these people are forbidden to use their property as they wish.  Most fascist city in which I've ever spent significant time.
