The weight limits really are for the unpaved backroads. Delivery truck will only fill my father's tank when the truck is half full. He'd get stuck if he didn't. Heck. We went up there right after new years and had to put our belongings on sleds to get down and back from to the cottage. There is no way a car is making it back up their hill with the ice and snow.

So, there will be a bunch of overweight fuel bombs being guided down the roads in WI by drivers that haven't had adequate rest?
That sounds like fun.

Remember when the banks decided to make a shiatload on things they offered for free because they could? Remember when telecoms turned the screws because they could? This is petro-chemical being envious and deciding to get theirs.

This is kind of the trouble with relying on the free market for needed infrastructure type items.  While in areas where there are a lot of choices like restaurants or retail outlets the competition on average keeps prices down and availability up; history has proven in fields like residential utilities and energy production/distribution the free market business model is built upon bringing the consumer the product at the highest price possible with the lowest possible distribution costs.  This means that when a huge surge in need happens like with this winter, the infrastructure created by the free market cannot meet the demand.  Of course when this happens, the free market "solution" as defined by capitalism is to raise the price until it lowers demand to supply.

This is another reason why when the government does it like with TVA the costs are more expensive.  But this is not as much because of less efficiency as right-wingers would lead you to believe, but rather to it being a more robust and redundant distribution system.  Unlike its private brethren whose mission is to make a profit through energy production and distribution, the TVA's main mission is infrastructure and economic development through energy production and distribution.  Rather than to padding profit margins, TVA profits are reinvested into the communities that buy its power.

Real Wisconsinites use charcoal or wood for their brat making. Well that, and plenty of beer.

Building a new smoker, but here's a quick recipe:

Fill a large stock pot halfway with water, and what would have been 1/4 of the way with beer.
(Choice of beer is personal. Some use crappy lighter beer, like Bud. I like darker beers, e.g. Guinness, myself.)

Do not turn on the stove top.

Put the brats in the pot, no heat.

Cut up 1 Sweet onion into rings, ad 4 cloves of fresh garlic, and put that in the pot.

Leave for about 1-2 hours, while you prep your smoker. Use your favorite combination of wood: I like to mix apple and bourbon barrel chunks. Make sure it isn't too hot, maybe 180'-200', but is ready to begin smoking as soon as you put the brats on the there.

Take the brats out of the pot, and now turn the stove on medium. Put the brats on the grill and smoke for about 15 minutes per side.

After you take them inside, put them in the now hot water/onion/garlic mixture in the pot. Cook an additional 15 minutes or so (this does depend on the brat type) Don't overcook them.

Take out the brats, and separately the onions.

Buns, mustard, onions, enjoy. You should see a nice dark pink ring (the smoke ring) but there shouldn't be any raw meat at all.

Watch out! Like my friend Jadzia, if they're done right, they squirt.

As a friend down here in Iowa, I have to say that seems like a hell of a lot of work for a reward of fatty sausage.  You keep making the Spotted Cow, and let us do what we do best...handle meat.

Yup, relying on the free market requires government permission for pipelines.
