cman: Putin played an incredible political game and he won.

Lost Ukraine by offering a $15B trade deal when it should have been $50B
Lost respect of nations who now question Russia's commitment to treaties and agreements
Cost the Russian economy maybe $100B in trade and development deals
Turkey on notice, if Russia mistreats the Cossacks in Crimea, Turkey locks their fleet in the Black Sea
Seized a tiny peninsula, where they already had bases, and have no land bridge to it.
Putin looks like a fool and a dictator

Mugato: vernonFL: I liked 'The Abyss'.

The Abyss was a good film. A ripoff homage of The Day the Earth Stood Still and it was a revolutionary use of CGI. And boobies.

The Abyss was good but the Directors edition blew my mind.

Yeah, the original was great, the Directors cut is ridiculously good and surprisingly absent from so many best sci-fi movie lists, seriously underrated flick.

I'd say he's a big TnA fan.

Holds up quite well - watch the Director's cut, though. It's much better.

Don't forget the invasion of Georgia.

I spent time in Atlanta. He can have it.  Besides, I don't recall Georgia including an extremely shady referendum.

baronbloodbath: Mugato: Leviathon had a better cast. Robocop, Trautman and the chick from Max Headroom.

Peter Weller, Richard Crenna, Ernie Hudson, Daniel Stern, and a cute chick who was also guest starred in X-Files.

/I've seen it a time or two
/or ten, actually

The Abyss has Chris Elliot. Checkmate.

I really do hope that it does happen

Ukraine and Russia have such a shared history that I dont think Putin would believe its right to give up on claims of Ukrainian submission

However, Russia really wants to have a modern nation and they cant do that without the west. Putin does LOVE capitalism and I think he does want to keep it going full speed.

If I were a betting man Russia was doing all this dick waving and supporting of pro-Russian groups to force Ukraine to agree to the annexation of Crimea. Putin played an incredible political game and he won.

dittybopper: *NICE*.

Made even more nicer by the fact that the ship in Leviathan was Russian.

Thanks. I only used Leviathan because I couldn't remember 'Deepstar Six' at the time.
