Henry Holland: Oh, and the dude and two chicks who talked throughout the whole show with your backs to the stage, even during the quiet bits, even after people asked you to be quiet multiple times? I hope you died in a fire soon after.

They didn't because there is no God.

Metallica, Black Album tour, Los Angeles Forum: deafening, so loud I could hear the band just fine in the bathroom. It was glorious, the best arena concert sound I've experienced. Really loud, but you could hear all the details too.

King Crimson, House of Blues Los Angeles, 2003, also really really really loud, but also crystal clear. When the quiet bits happened, it was a nice contrast. Oh, and the dude and two chicks who talked throughout the whole show with your backs to the stage, even during the quiet bits, even after people asked you to be quiet multiple times? I hope you died in a fire soon after.

Smeggy Smurf: Loud music is to cover up the lack of the band's talent.

So, all those concerts at the Hollywood Bowl that I've attended where sometimes the crickets in the hills around the Bowl were louder than the music showed off how talented the band was?

Got it.

milowitz: I'm frequently astounded at the lack of skills displayed by the sound men during a big name concert. Everything else is top notch and professional, but then it's sounds like shiat or is  WAY TOO LOUD. Like when I sit next to the board it sounds like crap.

Aye, but you haven't got the hearing loss that "professional" sound guys have after years of apprenticing with deaf sound guys whose raison d'être is to show you how loud the system can go without breaking up, noob!
