I'm frequently astounded at the lack of skills displayed by the sound men during a big name concert. Everything else is top notch and professional, but then it's sounds like shiat or is  WAY TOO LOUD. Like when I sit next to the board it sounds like crap.

red5ish: If you don't know that you're playing too loud in a venue that size then you suck.

News Flash: bands don't control their sound levels in a venue like that.

Sugar (Bob Mould) was one of the loudest concerts I ever attended. I do not know why. People were leaving during this:

mjohnson71: ristst: Drivin' n Cryin' at a mid-sized club...a buddy of mine convinced me to go.

Earplugs didn't help.  Ungodly insanely loud.

Saw them open for Midnight Oil.

I would have LOVED to see Midnight Oil live. Incredible live band.

Henry Holland: Smeggy Smurf: Loud music is to cover up the lack of the band's talent.

So, all those concerts at the Hollywood Bowl that I've attended where sometimes the crickets in the hills around the Bowl were louder than the music showed off how talented the band was?

Got it.

I refuse to believe you're that stupid.  But this is Fark so you never know

This was the last time I listened to them.  Had no idea they still existed.

Same here.  And most of the time, it's as easy as podding the gain down and turning the master volume up a little bit.  Drives me nuts.
