Just to be safe, let's deploy her to a forward position for about 6 months.

So she can compare experiences.

Just for her own peace of mind.

Sometimes, the best thing one can do is just unplug for a while.

But, then she couldn't feed her victim complex. I'm wondering if the SJWs will be plastering this all over Tumblr and G+.

Spoken like a true armchair PhD.

Hey thread; PTSD can be caused by a whole hell of a lot of things. Some people get PTSD from being in a car accident. Some people get it from domestic violence. Some people get PTSD from  one single thing. Some people get it from long-term exposure to highly stressful situations.

And to the "Sticks and stones" crowd, keep in mind just how stupid an expression that is. People have been getting murdered because of words ever since the existence of humans. There may be a person out there who has never become deeply upset or emotionally hurt because of words, but that person is about as common as a unicorn.

Words hurt. They always have. Pretending they do not is silly.

You find it hard to believe that having hundreds of people calling for your rape and murder and calling you ever name in the book, attacking every word you say every time you go online, could lead to paranoia and hypervigilance?

So basically, you're saying that if you want to shut someone up, all you have to do is orchestrate a cyberbullying campaign to the point that they can't tweet what they had for dinner without four or five people threatening to rape them with the breadsticks?

Well then dont have a blog , twitter or FB and just use the internet to forward cat pictures to your friends. Because if you cant handle crap people give you online than your skin is as thick as tissue paper. Years ago I posted a stupid drunk rambling about an ex and got a lot of shiat for it and death threats. I just laughed it off and and dared them to kill me. Still alive.

If one is maladjusted and unable to deal with name calling, yeah.

There's a difference between name calling and a legitimate death threat. Being unable to differentiate between the two is really screwy.

If you find reading things traumatic, then you are likely to be also traumatized by fluffy kittens and big bowls of ice cream. In other words, you have mental problems, but PTSD ain't one of them.

Yeah, because all well-adjuster adults are completely immune to all forms of verbal or emotional attacks done with words. Words carry meaning. Meaning hurts. I don't care how well-adjusted you are, if your boss tells you you're a failure, that shiat is going to hurt.

Words also hurt by way of third parties. A particularly vicious piece of gossip can destroy a marriage or a career.

Your "words shouldn't hurt" idea is, quite frankly, silly.

No, no they don't. Violent reactions to words by weak minded fools is what causes "hurt".
