I doubt they missed him sitting on the bench in his suit.

I wouldn't have thought he was the type to pull out early.

this.  Kobe has always been about Kobe.

Lakers should have traded him when he was still worth something.

Not like he was doing anything important.

I have not been following the Lakers, but TFA said he has played in only six games this year??? And made $30 million?

Is that right?

If nobody's cared about Kobe traveling all these years, why start now?

And (if you believe the LA Times) has been a childish, churlish biatch because the team has sucked this year

It's easy to "lead" from the front.  Not so much from the bottom of the table, n'est-ce pas, Kobe?

I doubt the team would have objected had he asked, since his broken knees have kept him off the floor since December.  But asking.....that's not what a mamba does.

Hey, one of you NBA people tell me why no one seemed to give a shiat about the Lakers signing Bryant to a 50 million dollar extension last year.

When he signed the extension (pre-injury, I believe) I said it was stupid.  Many Kobe/Lakers fans said it was about loyalty.  I countered that it was dis-loyal to the fanbase to dole out a fortune to someone that is in the twilight of their career, coming off and injury, and on a team that needed several holes files.  30 million can be a lot of talent.  Talent that will get less than 5 million a game.

If I read correctly he makes 40% of their payroll. Now I'm sure he sells the shiat out of some jerseys but let's face it... if kobe takes anyone to a championship game it's going to be in his extremely nice car.

Every time I read about injured MLB and NBA players still pulling in fat checks while they are out for the season I feel bad about the NFL players who get comparatively little guaranteed money and are much more likely to have season ending or career ending injuries.  Plus more health problems later in life.

Everyone pretty much laughed at the Lakers for doing so, but it's not like anyone's going to cry for them. I mean, imagine if the Yankees waited for Jeter to get injured to end this season, then signed him to a two-year extension for $50 million.

We'd laugh at them but no one would really give a sh*t because hey, f*ck the Yankees. Similarly, hey, f*ck the Lakers.

I saw some NBA pundit going to great lengths at the time to explain to idiots like me why they had to do it, right thing to do, etc. But me, I'm a simple man - I just thought, 'hmm, he's really old now, frequently hurt, and unlikely to play a full season ever again...'

Dead for Tax Reasons: those french women aren't going to rape themselves now are they

As part of the divorce settlement, Vanessa lets Kobe buttfark her every other month for an undisclosed sum.
You'll notice that no Laker Girls have been kicked off the squad lately, and no rape rapey accusations have occurred either.
All is well in Kobe land.

It's not great TV/internet to have everyone come to an obvious consensus.

It's especially silly...like anyone was going to care if he went to another team. Though I suppose it's fair to point out that the only other relatively similar situation I can think of would be Hakeem Olajuwon, Toronto Raptor.

/maybe Karl Malone, Laker
//no contenders were going to sign Kobe at that price, though, and most late-career team switches are ring-grabs

What else to expect, really. He all but crippled the team going forward with his farewell, thanks for being an NBA stud final contract.
