"You have selected regicide. If you know the name of the king or queen being murdered, press one."

"This is under investigation," Denver police spokeswoman Raquel Lopez said about the possibility of marijuana use.

Sure, because my mind goes straight to the demon weed when someone goes crazy and murders his wife.

REEFER MADNESS IS UPON US!!! BEWARE THE 20TH OF APRIL!!!

FTFA: Those harrowing events, provided by authorities, are now being investigated by Denver police, who are looking at how 911 handled the 13-minute emergency call and whether Kirk was using marijuana or another drug, authorities said Wednesday.
"This is under investigation," Denver police spokeswoman Raquel Lopez said about the possibility of marijuana use.
Colorado became the first state in the nation to legalize the sale of recreational marijuana, allowing pot stores to open for business on January 1.

Reefer Madness 2.0.

You're alive and witnessing it here, as the earth underneath you spins through orbit. Not some relic from the past that we can safely mock and laugh at, but real ignorance happening in real time.

I had a non-emergency need to report my side view mirrors being ripped off (the replacements cost $120 delivered) and I got transfered to the 911 dispatch. I tried to treat it as a non-emergency, but it got handled the same way. Go figure.

It's a term for being banned without notification, mostly used only on reddit these days.

Also, as far as I know, you can't be shadow banned on Fark.

Maybe it was the fact that the wife stated on the 911 call that she thought he had been smoking marijuana.

Don't forget, everyone who knows this man and never suspected he was capable of this is going to push the outside influence angle - because otherwise they would have to accept the possibility that they can't spot a psychopath, and they could be anywhere, right now, even right BEHIND THEM!

Illicit drugs are extremely convenient scapegoats.  They're rare, or at least perceived to be rare by non-users, and therefore correlating their use with violent behavior (also rare) is an easy step for most to take when presented with even a single instance.  They're 'mind-altering' which lets us shift blame from the person to the substance - it's a lot easier to vilify things than people, especially when we know those people.  The alternative view - that some people are predisposed to psychotic behavior and that it doesn't take much to push them over the edge - is a whole lot scarier and a much more complex problem to address than simply blaming a handful of chemicals.

And to poke at another issue - keeping firearms in your home is kind of like using a crate of dynamite for a stool.  Sure if you're careful the risk can be kept pretty low, and maybe you will actually need that dynamite to do some excavation some day (who knows, right?), but you're still storing explosives right next to your nuts and some people might think that's a bit crazy.

Damn this new fangled internet where you watch videos,  back in MY day the net was for reading,  and maybe the occasional dancing hamster gif that took 5 minutes to load up.  And by golly we liked it!

/I'd tell you to get off my digital lawn but it's still downloading over my 28.8k modem,  it'll be done in 2 hours if no one tries to make any calls.

Generally speaking, if someone suggests that you shoot them in order to protect yourself, you should at least hang on to the gun.

2014-04-17 06:26:37 AM
Thats very sad, but i doubt he went bugshiat after / because of smoking pot, unless it was laced with pcp. And as a side note for 911 callers? As a retired police officer, I can tell you that you're pretty much on your own for the time it takes us to get there. We in all likelihood don't know EXACTLY where your house is, and it's generally accepted by low enforcement that odds are, you get a call, and it's going to be ALL the way across town from where you are at that moment. At least it always seems to happen that way. Protect yourself, use common sense, and they will get there as quick as they can, but for those few moments before we show up, you're pretty much on your own.

I thought it was stupid, too. I started the chain of stupid with the woman calling 911 from inside the same house as her obviously mentally unstable husband who had access to a gun. You take the kids, get away from there as fast as you can and THEN call 911. I'm not saying she deserved it or anything, but if you're calling 911 on someone who has access to a firearm you should probably consider the possibility they will use that firearm on you and make "GTFO" your top priority.

This will be the Swiss absienthe murders for people that want to ban pot. Which is sad because if the police had done their job none of this probably would have happend.

I actualy use my dynamite. I go to the range and have fun using it to put holes in paper. I do have some dynamite in my nightstand on the off chance I'll need it for protection, but I don't think I will. But I don't sit on my dynamite, I have a couch that takes care of 95% of my sitting needs. I also keep all my non-protection dynamite in a dynamite safe. And I collect dynamite. Not because I am a prepper or anything, I just like odd/rare/historical dynamite. I have several dynamite from WW2 and some from before WW1. And by dynamite, I mean guns, which is nothing like dynamite, because you don't have to keep turning guns over to avoid the bullets sweating out and detonating on the slightest impact.

/Also why are you still using dynamite and not RDX or PETN?

And yet Zimmerman is a criminal for not instantly rushing to obey his dispatcher's orders.

/at least not being able to prove he had
//even though the evidence is that he returned to his car right after the dispatcher said "we don't need you to do that"

Landlines kill, people!  When will everyone learn, landlines kill?!

Call 911 because of armed, dangerous person, use a cellphone and run.  Make the call down the street, you'll be able to give them directions and you won't have extra holes.
