Young man, go to prison and not care.

Judge is a dick? No he's not. Guy has 10 felony convictions, and he's on probation at the same time he did other crap to get more charges. Judge made the correct decision. I don't want this guy and his history victimizing other folks.

2014-04-16 09:29:14 PM
Just noting here that they often rouse these guys at 5am, no coffee and little time to prepare themselves before they're herded into a communal room to look at a camera and have their case heard.

Not excusing the guy's attitude, but to be fair, the judge gave attitude first.

Look, some people say judges deserve more respect than they get, some demand respect, but just treat them as others. It seems as per the article, as Sheldon Cooper says, "At the kiddie table of justice".

"Is there any reason, Wayne, why you should not be impaneled on this Grand Jury?"

"No. Actually, I'm perfect. I do not, for example, believe in a) indicting anyone without hearing from them or their attorney, b) nor do I believe in approving any plea bargain without Grand Jury consent and approval, and c) I strongly believe Grand Jury's have the right to fine, imprison, and strip law licenses from those court officials we deem unworthy. As you can see, your honor, I'm the perfect juror."

I'm guessing he actually doesn't much care.  He knew he wasn't going to be cruising home after this little get-together.

Seriously, when a guy has  a criminal history that long... just drag them out back and shoot them.  I'm pretty sure he's proven beyond a doubt that he won't ever be a functioning, or safe, member of society.

That's find, convict him on those grounds.  No need to get smarmy and complain about his yawning like a nitwit.

Calling the judge an over entitled power drunk dick has nothing to do with the defendant whatsoever.  It is not white knighting the criminal.  It's a case of stating they're both assholes.

OMG, I yawned 3 times during that video.  Big deal.  Judge seems somewhat surprised that the guy that clearly has no respect for laws also has no respect for the "court".

Too bad the con didn't have a fart brewing.  That would have been an excellent comeback to "I heard you yawn."

Frrrrt!  "Did you hear that, too?   Ain't technology grand?"

^^^THIS, all of THIS^^^
Far too many think they crap out diamonds, fart perfume and piss rose-water. And we should all be thankful for them sitting in their piss-ant robes while mentally felating their egos via their legalized power-trip.
Screw them. If a common human biological function such as a yawn offends you, methinks you are a teeny bit assholeish.

I'm beginning to learn, since my wife has been a GAL for a few years, is that the best tend to be young judges in juvenile courts where they can - and do - make a difference in a child's life.

The other courts? *shudder*

Just because I think the Judge is an @sshole does not mean I don't agree with his sentence. The Judge did one correct thing - the sentence. Still an @sshole, because of 'tude.

Fark him and is self-righteous bullshiat.

He isn't a dick for being mean to the guy in general so much as getting pissed over yawning. I yawned three times watching that video before the guy did.

Dude was disrespectful. Not because he yawned but because he made sure the judge heard it. That's just ordering a dose of trouble with express shipping.

Why bother with the expense of a trial? The Judge, The District Attorney (who the judge is screwing), The Police, and the made-to-order-evidence State Crime Lab says he is worse than Manson. Throw him under the prison. It would be almost criminal for a jury to intervene at that point. Best to overcharge them all, make them plea (and give up their right to a fair trial) than bother those poor, miserable f*cks on the jury.

2014-04-16 10:45:21 PM
How exactly do people think yawning is disrespectful? Because you yawn when you're bored? Not always. Because you yawn when you're tired? Not always. The fact is yawning is a human reaction to...we don't know. We still don't know what yawning does or why people do it. But it's not an indication of any one factor. So for anyone to say yawning is disrespectful doesn't know enough about to know that no one knows enough about to make that claim.

Yes the criminal is a dirtbag, a blight on society and deserves to be in prison. But that's a separate issue entirely.

I'm going to guess, based on other threads he's been in, that farker probably doesn't know the difference between setting bond and life in prison.

This right here. A yawn is a bodily function that can't always be suppressed... But this dude went out of his way to exaggerate the motion and the sound. It was a statement.

Yet another fool who discovered that his case of YNTBOM syndrome has consequences. Good on the judge.

You don't have to like the "child in judicial robes," but you do have to respect him or her - that's part of living in this society. There are actual consequences to being an asshole to a judge while that judge is doing his or her job. It's good to see that, when needed, those consequences are pressed.

Meh, dude was being made to stand when he didn't even want to be there, because nothing in that courtroom amounts to anything.  Whatever extra time the judge 'thinks' he gave the guy doesn't mean anything as the guy will be in jail till his 60's.

Non-story, since I've heard of suspects doing much more just to skip court proceedings that really won't change the inevitable.
