Gee I wonder what else starting happening around 2007 that might somehow account at least in part for the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions?

I bet it was Florida enacting the Stand Your Ground law in 2005.

Obama had nothing to do with it.  It was Bush and his bold strategy to cut back on economic activity that reduced greenhouse emissions.

These are estimates based on reporters from the very industries that produce these greenhouse gases.  It's like asking burglars if your town is safe or needs additional police.

This only matters if you are a liberal.
No, really. Al Gore just made a speech here, and the conservative "global warming is a myth" warrgarbl was out in force.
Now, if you don't believe that this data is meaningful...

Large economic downturns will do that, so thank the previous 30 years of deregulation.

Ok, now that I read it, it makes sense

Natural gas pollutes far less than coal.

No, it's because I drove a Volkswagen during that time, but don't worry I traded it in for a truck at the end of last year, so we should be back on track.

I'm taking bets on how many days it will be before the headline "Remember when the EPA said U. S. greenhouse gas emissions have fallen 3.4 percent since 2007. Yea, not so much."

I say April 19th

Global recession. Less people driving, less businesses, less manufacturing, less companies = less greenhouse gas.

Yes, that was "then", but now is sorta eating that cracker.

After more flips and flops than a black crappie, TFA falls just short of concluding that enough money redistributed will save the planet.

Don't give Bush all of the credit for that. The unemployment rate in January of 2006 was 4.7% and even a year later it had only risen 0.3% to a whopping 5%. The Dems had to take control of Congress and really dig down before it jumped into the 9's and then finally the piece de resistance of 10% after taking total control.

The stock market crashed in October 2008. NBER, the official arbiter of these things, has the recession beginning in December 2007 and running until June 2009.

I know it may require actually RTFA, but these numbers do come from somewhere. You don't actually have to pretend the numbers are made up or make wild guesses about margins of error.

Somehow the GOP continues to convince party loyalists that this is true.*  I know that all GOP voters can't have enough money to benefit from GOP policies...

*or is it they don't notice it isn't true because the GOP tells them they should only worry about the godless, unethical, immoral, socialists democrats taking control of the country and the fear keeps them from questioning the party line?
