Oh no! Somebody might not be able to use Facebook or Twitter on the bus? That is just terrible. If you can't use Twitter or Facebook whenever you want, you might as well be dead.

Gig103: Better cut the wifi instead of raise fares to compensate. Get a better data plan, cheapskates. ;)

Better plan?  I am not sure if you have ever been to Canada.

gingerjet: FTFA McCarey said over that period of time costs for Wi-Fi tripled, from about $1,000 to $3,000 per month.

Their 2010 budget was $11million and they are freaking out over $24k?

/apparently they can't afford to pay someone to update their webpage either as they haven't published any budgets since 2010

It's almost like a non-profit that takes government money to subsidize the cost of the bus rides so everyone can afford to ride.  Like if the tax money used for the buses were ever cut wouldn't mean the buses would have to cut off the AC and heat, but stop running altogether if they don't raise the fares.  Do you really think the total cost of running the buses is covered by the little money put in the box?  I'm happy buses have improved to kneel for those who have trouble stepping up, ramps for wheel chairs, and bike racks on the front, which didn't exist on buses when I was a kid.  And I'm happy to pay a little extra in my property tax so those who can't afford cars, or a taxi can afford a bus ride to work, medical purposes, and whatever reason they need to get somewhere.  I'm not really wanting to pay extra tax money for wifi, so they may have to wait to get home.  Why, because I can't play with the internet while I'm driving, so they don't need it while traveling either.

MFAWG: jtown: "There started to be a pattern of abuse develop, especially in the last six to eight months, where we had a lot of people streaming and downloading very extensive files and the usage got very high," he said.

What a load of shiat.  Abuse.  What the fark did you think people were going to do?  That's what the internet is for!  Were you stupid enough to think they were just going to read a couple of emails and check the weather?  shiat, no!  They're going to listen to Pandora and watch YouTube videos.  They're going to stream last night's Game of Thrones episode from HBO2Go.  That's not abuse.  That's what people do on the internet, jackass.  Don't try to push your ignorance and poor planning onto the people who used the service you didn't understand.

You almost had me.

I'm not getting why that's a troll, actually. Seems perfectly cromulent.

If you give away something for free... don't they know how to set up a throttle or block certain sites?
