(Mirror.co.uk)   Well isn't that convenient to have a paramedic training next to you on a running machine at the gym when you're having a heart attack   (mirror.co.uk) divider line 5

Old Man Winter: A little too convenient. What aren't they telling us?

Not nearly as dramatic, but when I sliced of a part of my thumb on the meat slicer at Arby's, the paramedics were just pulling in for their sandwiches.  They never came back after that, which I still don't understand.  The slicer was properly cleaned according to health code, and the meat on it, tossed away.  It wasn't like anyone got a roast beef sandwich with something extra added.

/besides, the piece of my thumb cut off, went flying towards a lady trying to place her order.
//I had to cuss out my boss to come to my aid, because she was too busy trying to take the lady's order, who at that time was too frozen after watching a piece of my thumb almost hitting her in the face.
///true story, and the thumb grew back normal

Resident Muslim: Guy I know had a major car accident, I'm talking broken ribs, punctured lung, bruised up badly.
On a road that at the time wasn't heavily used.

First two people to pass by?
A paramedic and a kids doctor.

/ok, maybe they weren't the first two people (not sure), but out of the first people.

I was at an SCA event a few months ago, walking down the main road.  About 15 feet in front of me, this guy is walking along, minding his own business, when his right knee exploded with a huge cracking noise, and he fell flat on his face.  I ran forward to help him, but the two nurses who were almost 40 feet away beat me there, and the doctor arrived about three seconds after I did, followed by an EMT riding a golf cart about 15 seconds later.  It's nice when the universe provides what you need exactly when you need it.

When I had my heart attack (July last year) FDNY paramedics were right across the street, literally ~100' from the front door of our apartment building. Of course, we do happen to live on the street directly behind the hospital. And our street is where they hang out just before and after a shift, but I am still not complaining about a response time of just a few minutes, or so I am told - it seemed to take forever in my opinion.

/got lucky that night
