When I had my heart attack (July last year) FDNY paramedics were right across the street, literally ~100' from the front door of our apartment building. Of course, we do happen to live on the street directly behind the hospital. And our street is where they hang out just before and after a shift, but I am still not complaining about a response time of just a few minutes, or so I am told - it seemed to take forever in my opinion.

Wow, she's lucky. Everyone in her family dies young, and if that paramedic hadn't been there she would've died too without anyone thinking too much about it than "ack, her dad died young, too....".

Guy I know had a major car accident, I'm talking broken ribs, punctured lung, bruised up badly.
On a road that at the time wasn't heavily used.

First two people to pass by?
A paramedic and a kids doctor.

/ok, maybe they weren't the first two people (not sure), but out of the first people.
