chuggernaught: Wow.  Lot of trolls in this thread.  If I put them all on ignore, there would be about 9 posts to read.

I do like the new talking point about how Obama was personally leading the "invasion" of the ranch in Nevada.

Distort and distribute.  GOP plan A.

Wow, I never thought I'd say this, but jumping on Putin's dong is all the GOP has left. Especially since Putin kinda took over and brutalized a nation on Bushie's watch.

I guess GOP shills dream of living under a facist state. You want "strong leadership", guys? Go to Russia. Feel free to live there. After all, you guys will blend right in. Chubby guys in camo with Kalishnikovs who take over government buildings? That's right up your alley, yo.

Meh, Obama can't stand up against a rancher, much less Putin.

But he is good at surveiling law abiding citizens.

Should have gone with "0bama". But nice spelling error. 4/10

Yea I missed an "L".  Holy fark.

But my point stands.  Obama is in over his head. Community organizer, yea he's qualified to give out free legal advice. President of the US and leader of the free world, not qualified. He's good at whipping up followers to a frenzy, but is he a true leader? no.  He never takes responsibility.

And what woudl you do? Start WWIII?

Doing nothing will start WWIII. Early action prevents a worse outcome later.  How do you handle a bully? Let him grow?

But Obama can't do it.  A real leader could threaten Putin and Putin would consider.  Obama threatens, and Putin knows it means nothing.

You still didn't answer the question. Threaten Putin with what? What would you do?

Me. I would say that I would put up a no fly zone and bomb air fields if Putin were to invade. Putin wouldn't do it. He couldn't handle the repercussions (Russian domestic, and militarily). That would stop his march and probably get him kicked out of the Kremlin.

What's better? He's not gonna listen to diplomacy. He has Europe by the balls.

For real! What we really need is another privileged son of the aristocracy who spent half of his adult life in a drunken stupor, or maybe another actor who plays a convincing football player. Quick, can anyone check to see if the owner of the Astros is available?

Such a test is not unusual - Russia just last month test-fired an ICBM - but it comes amid heightened tensions with the West after the country's recent invasion of Crimea.

Prior to launching the missile, Russia issued notifications in compliance with the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty, Col. Warren said.

ZAZ: In those days the mad Emperor of Russia gibbered on his throne in Moscow, while around his vast empire forces gathered and shifted, as if on strings held by his ethereal hands. The hordes of Western Chaos shifted and gathered in return. At last on the plains of southern Europe the cowards showed their face, and the battle was joined.

In the grim darkness of the 21st Century, there is only war.

Although it could be argued that Putin is a mad emperor. There is speculation that he is actually insane.

Wessoman: Using 300 military personnell to get rid of fat pro-Russian demonstrators that have taken over policemen is reasonable.

The fact that Putin will use this as an excuse to invade and occupy the Ukraine is not.

But the Ukrainian government is doing the right thing. And if Moscow invades, there are US warships in the region with signals and AWACS support. Ukraine may be at a disadvantage militarily, but unless wants to commit suicide and attack US warships, at least the Ukrainian army won't have to worry about fog of war problems as much as the Russians will.

In that scenario we all might have to worry but not for long. If the US intervenes and Putin realises that Russia is going to suffer a humiliating defeat who knows what he might do. He might let the nukes fly.

kg2095: In that scenario we all might have to worry but not for long. If the US intervenes and Putin realises that Russia is going to suffer a humiliating defeat who knows what he might do. He might let the nukes fly.

Nope. Bottom line is that the US is in no way eager to threaten Russia. If Putin is beaten in the Ukraine and wants to go for the Nuclear option, he effectively unites the world against him. Either his own generals put a bullet in his head long before the orders to launch are executed, or Russia simply ends as a nation.

Remember, Russia doesn't exactly have many allies. Georgia would love to get revenge. Japan would like the Kuril islands back. China wouldn't mind a little territorial expansion. The Chechens will start a new round of bombing. Truth is, If Russia goes full retard, there are a lot people that would love to go full retard back at Russia.

Bomb Ukrainian air fields or air fields in Russia itself? Also, how would you enforce a no-fly zone over the Ukraine, when the ground forces are quite likely to be able to be armed and trained with anti-aircraft weapons?

40K thread !

Hmmm... a Leman Russ tank. How about its big brother? The Banehammer?

[wh40k.lexicanum.com image 800x414]

Somehow I read that as "The Banhammer" and thought that the moderators were going to get embroiled.

Nice. I did the same thing when I was looking for it. Had me a brief moment of "Wha-?" before the "Oh" set in. That tank is cool, but it is hardly the best DoW 40k  superweapon-vehicle. I would have to reserve that honor for the Necron Monolith. That thing is just... wrong.

I must be coming down with dyslexia today, because I swear I read that as "Neo-con Monolith."

I seriously need to get my glasses updated.
