James!: Did he need street cred?

Seriously, from what I can tell by searching, he hasn't really ever done anything wrong or controversy-worthy. He's married with a kid, donates a shiat-ton to charities, loves sci-fi, loves science (and Carl Sagan), and seems to just be a really nice guy.

Street cred means jack shiat if you're raking in millions without it.

That farking song has "corporate teambuilding meeting" written all over it. I feel like I'm being brainwashed every time I hear it.

So you're saying he's got as much street cred as any other 41 year old now?

When N.E.R.D got big and I first found out who Pharrell was, I thought he was something of a hipster dude who dresses himself out of whatever he finds in skate shops.

So, yeah, "street cred" in the sense we're most familiar with cannot possibly be something he tries to uphold.

The more I see this guy, the more I want to shiat in one of his hats... And for fark's sake, if he gets another 'best dressed' mention for showing up in some stupid looking 'tux with cutoffs' thing at another red carpet event, I'll take a dump in his shoes, too.

Street cred, for Pharrell Williams? you mean Pharrell  from the hip hop group called
N.E.R.D  acronym of  No one Ever Really Dies........

2014-04-15 04:12:46 PM
Real men aren't afraid to cry, subby. And neither is Pharell Williams.

Yep, I'm a father.  Three boys.  So, yeah, I get to be optimistic now and again

If you get lucky, maybe you'll get the chance to be a father too, one day.

Whoops there I go again, being overly optimistic.

I had no idea he was in NERD.

Then again my only exposure to NERD was that video of the french bulldog humping a Pikachu to a NERD song (Lapdance I think?).

Also, he's from Virginia Beach. Meaning, he's more skater than thug. Would probably rather hang out with Tony Hawk than with any hardcore gangsta rapper. Speaking of which, here he is interviewing Tony Hawk.

I'd be damn proud if I had written and recorded "Happy". Perfect pop song and the ridiculously positive message to boot.

The work day is better if you queue "Happy" just as you emerge from the subway station. True story.

My boss played that song about 10 times last Friday. Not bad. And a boss being happy is always a good thing.

Also, it is better than her last favorite song. Sexy and I know it. Wiggle wiggle wiggle.

Oh, no, not Teh Street Cred!!! Does this mean Pharrell won't be invited to 50 Cent's release party?

Pharrell was a band geek who made his name in the music business by making beats for other musicians, then producing, then becoming an artist himself.

It's starting to make sense. This is geared toward the "no repeat work day best light hits from the 80s 90s and today" radio set and the mom/dad/mall shopper scene. I guess anything that takes 3 minutes away from Smash Mouth during the day is a relief.

and 'happy' isnt even a happy-sounding song!  holy shiat!
this is a happy song:
And if I haver, yeah, you know I'm gonna be...
I'm gonna be the man who's havering to you.

AND I WOULD WALK FIVE HUNDRED MILES
**everybody sing**
AND I WOULD WALK FIVE HUNDRED MORE
JUST TO BE THE MAN WHO WALKS A THOW-ZIND MILES

You're supposed to cry with Oprah. This isn't new, and it certainly doesn't harm anyone's reputation.

speaking of which, as part of a mild mental breakdown i bought a drumset a couple months ago.  the best radio station i have ever heard (for learning drums, anyway), is 7890 internet radio.  i first heard it at my physical therapists office - he plays it because it appeases everyone from 6-66 years old.

i guarantee you will NEVER be able to guess what song is coming up next.  shiat be crazy.
half the time i dont even know what song im playing along to.  whenever 'happy' comes on i go full double bass and my china gets more dents.
