Yeah, it's skeevy. It's also the type of prevalent skeevy that absolutely permeates Texas and most American politics. I'd love it if Davis didn't have that appearance of impropriety. I would love it if those conflicts of interest were explicitly illegal. I would love it if we enforced ethics with our elected officials.

We don't, and she's in no way worse in this matter than anyone she's running against, and her policies are far more in line with my beliefs and the idea that women aren't chattel than her opponent's. Yeah, I'll take the skeeviness on the chin if it means she has a chance in the election and isn't completely farked because her taking the higher ground relegated her to the vaunted realm of a pure but hopeless campaign.

The GOP is certainly not scared of Wendy Davis, nosiree. They're definitely not stooling their pants like Ted Nugent in front of the draft board at the idea of her winning the election and becoming Texas' next governor, or even putting up enough of a fight that they'll actually have to put forth an effort to keep Texas instead of simply winning the default victory they were originally expecting.

Their decision to make hay of her acting like a politician has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with any fear of this strong liberal woman, because they're totally not afraid of her.

Dancin_In_Anson: While this surprises me in no way shape or form (Texas politicians are all but required to be ethically challenged) the headline and the reaction are priceless.

She's still better than Abbott.

Corruption's not okay, but there's as much evidence for it in the headline as the article, unless you'd care to explain exactly why and how Davis' votes regarding the NTTA were unethical. That said, where's the Perry thread? He's currently actually under investigation for ethics violations.

Geotpf: grumpfuff: Gulper Eel: But Davis? Just another creature of weasel-state politics - if you're keeping score at home, the weasel states are the ones where voters have no real choice for ethical government. In no particular order they are: Texas, Florida, California, New York, New Jersey and Illinois. Do yourselves a favor and don't send anybody from those states to higher office. They do enough damage at home.

They are?

I dunno, any scorecard that shows New Jersey as the least corrupt state in the union seems questionable.

This is the part where I post a study that finds Polish people aren't actually stupid.

machoprogrammer: Wendy Davis did one good thing, and that was really it, and people are shocked to learn a lawyer turned politician is corrupt?

If you both think this article proves corruption, you must truly be terrified of her.

What's all this about Ted Nugent being a pants-sh*tting draft dodger?

He told some magazine years ago that he shiat his pants, among other disgusting things, to get out of the draft.  He has since denied it, claiming it was a joke.

He said it in two interviews, iirc.

Also, he adopted a 17 year old girl so he could f*ck her whenever he wanted.
