I do like the phrase "leftist viral totem-figure."

It has a nice ring to it.

Ok, well that was probably inappropriate then.  Kinda mild as far as scandals go though.  Big ol' meh.

Sure as the sunrise, here comes the reflexive spittle-flecked fact-free defense of legalized corruption.

While this surprises me in no way shape or form (Texas politicians are all but required to be ethically challenged) the headline and the reaction are priceless.

I would never do that. I tend to just go off on politicians in headlines.

I supported what Wendy did in the Texas legislature, because sometimes you really do need to put on a show to draw attention to a matter, but she was definitely using it as a platform to launch her political career. It was probably always her intent to do something like this, she's in politics so attention whoring is the name of the game.

This kind of under the covers deal stuff doesn't surprise me at all.  She's not a dyed in the wool saint, she's a Democrat AND a lawyer. I've been following her on Facebook but removed her recently because she decided it was a good idea to spam her FB account with selfies. Ugh.

Anyone thinking this is the next Elizabeth Warren can forget it.

2014-04-15 09:55:02 AM
The GOP is certainly not scared of Wendy Davis, nosiree. They're definitely not stooling their pants like Ted Nugent in front of the draft board at the idea of her winning the election and becoming Texas' next governor, or even putting up enough of a fight that they'll actually have to put forth an effort to keep Texas instead of simply winning the default victory they were originally expecting.

Their decision to make hay of her acting like a politician has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with any fear of this strong liberal woman, because they're totally not afraid of her.

This.

Going initially by the near-worshipful reaction to Warren when she came on the scene, I initially figured she was just another smooth talking empty suit who would go full-DC-insider hack within three months of taking office - but while I will rarely agree with her, she hasn't been a phony and spares us the bullshiat theatrics and appeals to emotion.

But Davis? Just another creature of weasel-state politics - if you're keeping score at home, the weasel states are the ones where voters have no real choice for ethical government. In no particular order they are: Texas, Florida, California, New York, New Jersey and Illinois. Do yourselves a favor and don't send anybody from those states to higher office. They do enough damage at home.

That tells me you're either voting Warren (MA) or Santorum (PA) - or Clinton (AR? Or would you go with her ancestral homelands in IL or most recent residence in NY to make her ineligible)?

Feinstein and Pelosi come to mind, they balance any good stuff they do out with corrupt crap I can't stand. Then consider where the big Democratic lobbyist money comes from, stuff like the MPAA and RIAA.

I preferred Huntsman (UT) in 2012 and wound up voting for Gary Johnson (NM). This time around I'm willing to hear out Sanders (VT) and Schweitzer (MT) from the Democrats and so far only Jindal (LA) from the Republicans.

She's running for governor, so unless she's planning on invading Oklahoma the war issue isn't strictly relevant.

He said it in two interviews, iirc.

Also, he adopted a 17 year old girl so he could f*ck her whenever he wanted.

Interesting. The mention of Sanders surprises me, but pleasantly - and that you'd mention Jindal in the same breath is puzzling. Jindal is not too bright (as a general executive. I hear he's great in "his" areas, apart from exorcism, and I'm not even bagging on him), and way too GOP-heavy (compared with Sanders, who is all too happy to lambaste the Big Corporate Democrats).

Wendy is having a BBQ with Willie Nelson performing, Abbott campaigned with Ted Nugent. Easy choice, I'll go with Wendy.
