Super_pope: Non-story. SARS was basically made up by our Media Machine as a thing to drive fear ratings in a world without enough terrorism. It was only deadly in the extremely old or extremely young in places that have historically had poor medicine.Any time you see our "News Personalities" deliberately playing up how scary something is, you know with 100% certainty it basically isn't a threat to human life. When something is actually important they forget to try and drive viewership and actually tell you, "Hey you're going to be okay just stay safe by doing this and this, don't leave the house and stay calm."
machoprogrammer: Isn't SARS less deadly than the normal flu?
Ivo Shandor: machoprogrammer: Isn't SARS less deadly than the normal flu?http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_human_disease_case_fatality_r at esThis list has SARS at 11% and normal flu around 0.1%. So, no.Disclaimer: "case fatality rate" is the fraction of fatalities among people diagnosed with the disease, and doesn't consider people who are exposed without developing serious symptoms.
