581 calories is ~1/5 of a daily ration for an adult male, according to this article...

But that's only if you're a young male, say, 14-30 and you are healthy and active. Anyone older, or who works in an office environment, that's probably gonna land you several hundred calories in surplus at the end of a day. A few months later you're gonna be 10 ells overweight (or cubits, or whatever the weird English measure would be.) And people wonder why we're all so fat.

"Creation is made from chunks of cod, pea puree and tartar sauce"

So that's what's coming out of my penis when I masturbate.

That looks fantastic, I'm all over that when it hits the stores!!

I'm not sure it can beat the Deep Fried Macaroni Cheese pie that I saw in Scotland.

That sounds rather repulsive to me. Besides, there is nothing wrong with proper fish and chips.

2014-04-15 08:32:45 AM
That sounds wonderful.  I'm not British, but I am weird.

"Sounds wonderful" in the sense of that once or twice a year treat type thing.  Certainly not lunch every day, or even once a week.

I was interested until I read "chunks of cod, puréed peas." Then I was dry heaving.

Other than the peas it looks like it could be pretty good.

British Farker here - no. Wrong. Bad dog, M & S - in your bed.

Nothing wrong with ingredients served separately on a plate, or especially eaten fresh outside the local chip shop when it's on newspaper and liberally sprinkled with salt and vinegar - mmmmmmmm.

But it's not a pie, you marketing wankers.

Lighten the fark up Francis. It's a deep fried PIE. It's a sometimes food, not a 3 meals a day item.

Also, 1800-2000 calories is baseline for many people, so skip the sodas and have this at lunch/dinner, plus breakfast of a few hundred calories, still leaves you 800-1000 calories for a third meal and snacks.

British food is designed for two purposes:

1. Make you feel warm and happy when it's been cold and rainy for the last 8 months.
2. Go well with beer.

This looks like it would do both well.

The prophecy is complete, now everything does come in pie form.

I wonder if I could eat that on a buttie!

But this suugested caloric intake is 2900 calories a day, and its offered in a confident offhand fashion that corporate fast food joints always use to disseminate bad or misleading nutritional info. There's no need to completely mislead people about their health if you are actually delivering a decent food product. And don't call me Shirley.

Did you not see the picture?  Are you an idiot?

I'm an American.  It's a pie.  It's not some British definition of a pie, it's just an ordinary pie.  Of the standard pie variety.  It's pie shaped, it's got a pie crust, it's got filling, It's a pie.

And I kind of want.

Would it still be a pie?

Ye, I saw the photo.

No, I'm not an idiot, thanks very much.

So you want it - good for you.

When I say it's not a pie, I mean that proper fish and chips has no more place being wrapped in pastry then a bowl of cornflakes.  IT'S WRONG, and if you ever get the chance to eat proper fish and chips, and that means fresh, caught that day fish, not frozen fish, and proper chips made from quality potatoes, with the fish covered in beer batter and cooked in beef drippings, you'll know that this "pie" is an abomination before Our Lord, Drew.

Speaking of wrong...
I'm definitely not British but I tried one of their beers last evening. Wells Sticky Toffee Pudding Ale.

Not bad, very drinkable. Never had the pudding itself, but it did taste somewhat puddingish and the toffee flavor was very evident. But it's not what I'm looking for in a beer so that's probably that for this one.

Oh, and since none was spilled in my lap or anywhere else, there was no wet sensation in my groin area.

So if, one of your 3 meals a day is 1/5 of your calories for the day, you're going to end up eating "several hundred calories in surplus" and gain 10 pounds?  I think you might be a little off on your math(s).

Protip: People in other countries don't typically eat 5 meals a day. That's just here in America.

Ahh, got it.  I thought you were saying it wasn't a pie.

You're simply saying that it shouldn't be a pie.

And yes, I'll certainly grant you that fresh caught fish with fresh french fries deep fried in lard would certainly be good, though I will say it doesn't make nearly as much difference if the fish is not quite as fresh if you're going to batter and deep fry the fish as if you were to slice it up and toss it on some rice as sushi.

But what if, perhaps, you were to turn that fresh fish and good fries into a pie?  Fresh made, not frozen?  Still sound wrong to you?  Because it doesn't really to me.  And hey, that's the only way I'll get it, because I'm American, we don't have Marks and Spencer here, so I'd have to make the pie myself.

2014-04-15 10:54:06 AM
Apart from the fact that there is bugger-all filling, the pie would appear to be very small too.

And has already been pointed out, fish and chips does not need to be surrounded by pastry, it just needs a liberal covering of salt and vinegar.
