Incredible!
I wonder what people like this would say about our society that doesn't let kids that age stay at home alone or ride bikes without helmets?

"You don't have to go out hunting when it's -40? Where do I join?"

"Eagle Huntress" would be a hell of a line to have on your resume.

/or for a song title on a fantasy-themed heavy metal album

I like to fly my quadcopter around the neighborhood, or the nature reserve next door, and take pictures. I used to think that was pretty cool. But this girl has a much cooler UAV than me.

I don't know about a Disney movie, but I'd gladly throw money at documentary about these people and their culture.

Wow, you guys are a lot more educated than us. We have to become self reliant so early that we are barely literate and our mortality rates are very high.

A photographer who snapped what could be the world's only girl hunting with a golden eagle says watching her work was an amazing sight.

OMG, the world is running out of girls?? I didn't even know they were on the endangered list!

Falconry is probably one of the oldest sport hunting methods. There are pictographs in Egypt and China and India that go back 4000 years. It is still very much a sport in Saudi Arabia and Iran.

Uhh......you probably shouldn't rely on Borat for your information about Kazakhstan - the literacy rate there is 99.5% (higher than ours) and the life expectancy is around 70 years old.

And of course, an encounter with a peanut or wasp won't kill 5% of them.

Of course, this is Mongolia, where once you get outside of the capital's glitzy international business district, a lot of people live like this:

Supposedly, the literacy rate is also 97%. I am skeptical.

/ Do want to see western Mongolia, though.

I swear, I thought this headline read:  Ashen-Shugar photographed several Kazakh children [...] and I was pretty jazzed. Article still pretty cool.

MythDragon: Fark using the eagles to hunt, just eat the bird. Those things are farking huge.

15 POUNDS, says the article. When my kiddo was that weight, I was thankful for a wrap/carrier/thingy to hold her 'cause daaaaaaaaaaammmmn. I can't imagine holding that on just one arm for an extended period of time.
