How many Native American actors are there in Hollywood? Less than 1%? Besides, even if they found one who was a good actor AND a good fit for the part, I'm sure people like you would complain he's not from the right tribe.

/This is why if if I were a writer I would only write white characters. The loudmouth activists get pissed off no matter what you do anyway

I hate Hollywood-speak so much. How hard is it to just use the word "premiere"?

Same. It's Vertigo though. They have a pretty good track record.

Scalped was an awesome book. I know some NA groups got pissed off about it, not sure if it was some of the specifics were wrong, or the drunken gambling behavior seen as stereotype or what, but I really enjoyed it.
It could be a great show, but they'd have to take the same risk that the NA community would get up in arms about it as the books did. Showcasing the amount of really gritty stuff in the books on TV is hard to do if not done just right. And not cast a white dude as Dash of course.

well, you got the loudmouth part about me right
Activist? Naw
Would I get my panties in a wad about the tribe thing? Nope
But considering the demographic they are reaching for, I'm SURE they wont make any efforts to find a Native American actor or will use the same bullshiat excuse you just did about there "not being enough"

I mean, if your statement is true, websites like this must be REALLY full of shiat, right?

Noah Watts maybe? I think I remember hearing that they actually got Native American actors for the voices for Assassin's Creed 3, and he looks like he could play the part.
Only if his regular acting is better then his voice acting though, that game was cringe inducing a lot of the time.
Although he's Crowe descended from Blackfeet, not Lakota, so there's that ;)

I actually like Banshee.  I find it entertaining in a "this is so ridiculously unrealistic" way, which makes the writing choice perfect for adapting a comic book.

My only real gripe about Banshee is that they have to have a sex scene in every episode.  EVERY EPISODE, without exception.  Now don't get me wrong, I like looking at the various titays attached to the women who star in that series, but every episode is a little excessive.

crime noir drama set on a Native American reservation

OK.  Noir-ish crime movie set in a section of the US legitimately known for being poor and kinda miserable, seems like a reasonable enough place to start.  Just by not being directly attached to one of the big two franchises it'll probably be better than most of the comics-adapted movies around by default.

For the people complaining that it makes the first-nations and reservation folk look bad... shut up and deal with it.  You don't have to buy a ticket, brother, and when  my ancestry's recent history and cultural reputation was put into a movie last it was goddamned Deliverance.  Some of your history/culture is terrible, and sometimes people will write works focusing on the terrible bits.  Welcome to "the entire history of human culture".

I know, I know, and normally I don't object.  Somehow though the sex scenes seem out of place, at least 80% of the time anyway.

It's sort of like salami and chocolate: I love salami, definitely like chocolate, but eating both at the same time is just off-putting.  Somehow Banshee manages to do that for sex scenes and the rest of the show, despite being ultraviolent and over the top.

Eh?  I said nothing that would affect casting decisions in any way one way or another.

Though, that said, the most recent offensive racial re-casting wasn't offensive so much because of the race shift but because it was Johnny Depp doing a blackface act specifically, they could easily have done the same thing and made it awesome instead.

I thought I remembered a while back reading that FX was developing a series based on Scalped so this is kind of disappointing. FX would've been a great fit for this. But I can bet there will be some outrage over this either way.

The comic's really good though and definitely worth checking out.

Scalped is a very entertaining crime comic with many memorable moments and characters.
I was never a fan of the scratchy art style but Eduardo Risso and Sean Phillips can't draw every crime comic that comes out.

They'll have to cut back on some cursing, but Mad Men has a lot of barely concealed sex and nudity, and The Walking Dead just had an episode where a pre-teen girl killed her sister and then another character had to execute her for the good of the group. Then they ended the season with a group of cannibals. They may have to pull a few punches, but most of what is in Preacher isn't much worse than The Americans or American Horror Story on FX, so I think it'll translate surprisingly well. If anything, it'll reign in some of Garth Ennis's worst excesses a bit so the great story and the huge amount of heart the series had shines though a bit more and viewers aren;t totally alienated from the get go.
