FTFA: Given Bundy's rather unusual understanding of the law (at one point, he demanded that the local sheriff disarm all National Park Service employees and bring their firearms to him)

Cliven Bundy doesn't recognize the U.S. government even existing so his cattle can mooch of public land: hero.

Immigrants not recognizing the U.S. government even existing so they can hop across and arbitrary border: evil.

The most effective way to heard cattle on a piece of land that big is with helicopters. The BLM had a bunch in the air. It was in everyone's best interest to keep the airspace as clear as possible.

As far as snipers go, the crazy ol' coot announced that he had a stash of weapons and the desire to use them.

"As the potential for violence escalated, the feds decided to back down."

Sensible decision by grown ups facing idiots they don't really want to have to obliterate, but what's the word from the Derposphere on this?

I'm guessing they're crowing about a major victory against Nobama and a tyrannical government defeated by 2nd Amemdement Heroes. Is this supposed to be the start of a revolution leading to overthrow of the Federal Government, or is it just True Patriots standing their (sic) ground?

Not just that...he owes the federal government over a million dollars in unpaid grazing fees. Yet another right-winger who thinks everyone else should have to pay...but not them.

I think BLM backing down, if they don't come back with some real enforcement action in the near future, is a dangerous precedent. These wingnutjobs see any weakness by the government as vindication for their own brinkmanship. So next time they will come out even stronger. The BLM needs to bring Bundy down in a most public manner- let everyone know that you don't get to make up your own rules.

Yeah. Go to any small eastern Nevada or eastern Oregon bar and say the words "Welfare Cattle" and I guarantee you won't ever need dental work again. They're moochers, but it does ignore the bigger point: The interpretation of the Constitution.

Bonus if this later gets used by the Foxes of the world to show that Obama will negotiate with terrorists.

// because that's what they are - terrorists - plain and simple
// part of me wants the Feds to lay waste to the place, Waco-style, just to make the point that laws mean things even if you own a Second Amendment "solution"
// another part wants them to die the slow death of preponderating court decisions and loss of assets - peaceful resolution

Considering you had 1500 or so self-proclaimed Militia Men showing up to show off their firepower at an impromptu WeaponsCon, it wasn't a bad idea to keep small aircraft out of the area.

And this is the "Hero" that has become all the rage on right wing forums of late, a freeloading moocher who may or may not actually believe the MA Libs version of US law he spouts.  I really wish the BLM would just start shooting every cow that strays off his property and have done with it.

We don't need anymore American martyrs for the derp patriot brigade.

Can you put rubber ammo in a .50? Just mobilize a few dozen tanks and helicopters and let their laser-guided goodness raise a few million welts. Or unleash those pain weapons I read about during the Iraq War.

That's not the bigger point. The point is the guy lets his cattle overgraze and doesn't want to pay his grazing fees. Whether his fat ass or yours would punch me over this (and you won't) doesn't change that fact at all.

This is not about a constitutional principle In the least.

Even more of a reason for BLM NOT to back down. WTH?

2014-04-14 05:03:54 PM
Yeah this really is a hilarious turn of events.  Conservatives are getting all bent out of shape defending a 47%er who has been living off government largess and refuses to even acknowledge the help he's been receiving while demanding more.

...and when I say turn of events I mean the utter transparency of this chain of events.  The GOP circling the wagons over a tax-dodging corporation while demanded more tax cuts is a daily event - they usually at least have some sort of cover story to bury the bullshiat in.
