Give us the 1960s level of cooling, then call back with worries about doubling that cooling. Flatlining isn't quite the same as cooling.

Is this about having the Gulf Stream cut off?

I see we're still letting the crazies run the Climate Change discussion. Now we're supposed to be wringing our hands over a mini-ice age, thereby disproving global warming. Either way, keep burning that coal, and keep belching out air and water pollution, because jerb createrz.

That's harsh.

Nothing to see here. A concept about a decade old if not more. Melt the Arctic ice, it screws up the flow of warm water that keeps Europe warmer than it should be.

I don't know about that.
It might be kind of neat to have spring-like weather all the time.  But when the ice caps melt, and every coastal city in the world is destroyed, and climates are shifted across entire continents, you may have to rethink that.

You should probably look up what an ad hominem attack is before you bandy that about. The fact that this scientist is a frequent publisher of climate change denial articles is absolutely relevant.

An example of an ad hominem attack would be stating that he wears women's underwear.  Something that may or may not be true, but is irrelevant.

From Wikipedia:

Habibullo Ismailovich Abdussamatov ... is a Russian astrophysicist of Uzbek descent. He is the supervisor of the Astrometria[1] project of the Russian section of the International Space Station and the head of Space research laboratory at the Saint Petersburg-based Pulkovo Observatory[2][3] of the Russian Academy of Sciences. He is a global warming skeptic.

So at he's not a total flake.

In early 2012, Abdussamatov predicted the onset of a new "mini-iceage" commencing 2014 and becoming most severe around 2055.

hmmmmm.....

Quick! Rally the global warming nut troops! Time to pool all the junk science and fuzzy temperature numbers and drown out this new ice age crowd. If this thing takes hold, it'll be a huge cut in pay for lots of wealthy democrats and their minions. We've got to keep convincing people they're going to drown and burn up! We don't want them to start asking questions about other things like the obamacare scheme, Benghazi and barry using the IRS to target Americans. Let's nip this in the bud, NOW!

Foolish cretin. How dare you posit a theory that is in any way different than the "consensus" of scientists. The scientists have already studied this, you know, so there is no need for further implementation of the scientific method...

Unless your predictive models can predict solar and volcanic activity in relation to orbit and tilt of the earth then your numbers are going to be way off as to the effect of humans on the climate.  The Sun will always have the greatest effect on the climate.  Global warming can cause the temperatures to go from a 50 degrees to 100, it ain't caused by people, it's called day time.

It's a mixed-up hodge-podge, talking about the overturning circulation, Abdusamatov's crackpot solar cooling theory, and a bunch of uncontroversial observations and historical reconstructions that do not imply a new "mini ice age" is coming.

Cariboo, wood bison, and wolves roamed Southern Canada well into the 1800s and even 1900s. Then we shot the last of them. My grandfather probably saw one of the last eastern cougars* in the Province of New Brunswick when he was a young man. He may have seen one of the last eastern cariboo as well.

Coyotes have now made their way as far as Nova Scotia, where they have filled the vacuum left by wolves which are less tolerant of humans.

I would say the disappearance of these large mammals has more to do with humans than climate change, after all the plains buffalo can cope with the climate of the USA today, as can elk and wolves. Wood bison also roamed the land between the plains and the Appalachians in recent times (the 1800s). Jebidiah Springfield riding one isn't an anacronism, just a sly historical reference.

*Pepple still claim to see these from time to time and they may still exist but are considered cryptids by most.

None of this matters.

The earth will heat and cool. Land will erode and flood. Poor people will find it hard to find food, rich people (comparatively) won't.

Some places will be more suited to growing crops than others. Some places that former couldn't sustain farming will now be able to, others won't.

Some people will find ways to get filthy rich in the process, others won't.

Somehwere, people will fight and possibly kill each other over resources.

If this sounds like a portent of the future, it is.

If this sounds like a description of some places in the past and present it is.

The last decade is the warmest on record. Unless you cherry-pick some exotic start and end point, the trend line is still up. Not down. Not flat. Up.

So here's my question:

Is Global Warming falsifiable?

Because as I see it, global warming consists of several parts:

1) The Earth is warming (recently changed to "The Earth's climate is changing").
2) This will produce various issues.
3) It's caused by mankind and our evil, evil industrialization.
4) But that's OK because we can fix it.
5) By cutting our standards of living and giving the government even more power.
6) And NOT by letting capitalism combined with "Efficiency is God" and some technological development solve the problem for us.

Winnipeg free press, eh? Brings to mind an old sea chantey:

Oh there were three whores from Winnipeg,
Drinking the sherry wine.
The first whore said to the other whores,
"None is bigger than mine."

Oh, tack on the sheets me hearties,
and water the decks with brine.
Bend to the oars ye dirty whores,
for none is bigger than mine!

"Well, you're lyin' " said the second whore,
"For mine's as big as the air.
The ships sail in, the ships sail out,
and never tickle a hair."

Oh, tack on the sheets me hearties,
and water the decks with brine.
Bend to the oars ye dirty whores,
for none is bigger than mine!

"Well you're lyin' " Said the first whore,
"Because mine's as big as the sea,
the ships sail in, the ships sail out,
with never a bother to me."

Oh, tack on the sheets me hearties,
and water the decks with brine.
Bend to the oars ye dirty whores,
for none is bigger than mine!

"Well your BOTH lyin' " said the third whore,
"Compared to mine you're small...
For many a ship has sailed right in,
and never sailed out at all!"

Oh, tack on the sheets me hearties,
and water the decks with brine.
Bend to the oars ye dirty whores,
for none is bigger than mine!

It seems weird that a scientist from the country that saw the greatest heat anomoly in the world, would be saying that cooling was on the way.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/8/8c/Global_Warm in g_Map.jpg/200px-Global_Warming_Map.jpg

Russia from 1998 to 2008 saw an average increase of 1.5 to 2.0 degrees Celcius in that time frame.
Most of the rest of the world was only around 0.5 to 1.0 degree Celcius
