One might think that dashboard cams are for when the car is in motion, not for when it's just sitting around with the engine off and draining the battery. But then again, I'm certainly no "pro" at auto part theft.

My dashcam has a timer for after the car is shut down, and will record for a set time off of the onboard camera battery. It also has a motion detector that will either snap a photo or record a quick video clip.

So they gave this repeat offender yob probation and a curfew?
That's some harsh Limey justice right there.

Swansea magistrates court was told Mr Gordon had 12 previous convictions for dishonesty offences.  His latest offence was committed while subject to a community order...

Magistrates sentenced him to a 12 months community order supervision and a drugs rehabilitation order.

So he was on probation when he did this and the judge gave him more probation?  Sounds like a great place to be a criminal.

"Stop!  Or I'll yell 'Stop!' again!"

Even better, the victim had to get new plates for fear the criminal or his family would use his license number to track him down and take revenge for ratting him out.

For some reason I read the headline as "Protip: When stealing parts from a vehicle ensure you also remove the dachshund."

It would have been a better article if a dachshund had been involved. Dachshund.

Yeah, there's no possibility that anyone could hook a camera to, I don't know, an alarm trigger? No, I guess the camera has to run 24/7, no matter what.

My roommate, circa 1996 had just gotten his car from the shop after a repair. Was driving home, as a matter of fact, when 4 o'clock came. On 7th Ave and 7th Street in Phoenix, these two streets use the middle lane as a traffic lane in one direction for rush hour. They have no lights or timers, just signs, so if Plucky Joe's clock is fast or slow, he may just be driving down the lane when it's not supposed to be a traffic lane. Same happens for people from there, you don't notice the time, and pull in to turn anyway...

Anyway, my roomie didn't notice the time and got in an accident, flat tire, ruined quarter panel, and the front bumper came off. While he was in the middle of changing the tire, a car pulled up in front of him and two dudes got out. he thought they were going to maybe offer help, but instead, they grabbed his bumper, threw it in their car, and took off before he even realized what they were doing... Seriously, he said the entire thing took like 10 seconds. Apparently, there was a huge market for black market Acura parts in the 90s.
