I personally can't wait for Shia LaBeouf voicing Jar Jar, especially during his extended CGI lightsaber duel with the Ewok guy who's going to be the main villain.

If they make Luke turn to the dark side I'll laugh obnoxiously loud, loud enough to further ruin the movie.

Your move, Disney.

Less than two years until the good original trilogy is spit roasted by two awful ones.

He'said right, about the overexposure bit.

Too much of a good thing can happen, and as an actor i imagine it could burn you out.. and possibly close doors on future projects you may really want.

Yep. I can't watch Tom Cruise movies because I end up seeing him as Tom Cruise rather than the character he is supposedly playing. He was overexposed. The same thing could easily happen to this Cumberbatch fellow.

I was born in 74 and while I enjoyed the movies as a kid and had many of the toys, I was never particularly obsessed over Star Wars (at least not any more than the dozens of other things I was into as a kid). Grown up, I watched 1-3 and now I can't stand to watch the originals either. I'm not sure if it's because the newer ones ruined them for me, or that my tastes changed as I got older. I am somewhat optimistic about the upcoming movies and will at least give them a chance. I'm not sure you could do worse than 1-3 if you tried. At that point it would breach the unintentionally entertaining line.

Subby, like a lot of Star Wars fans has never reconciled with the fact that the Star Wars movies were aimed at kids. All of them. They were space operas targeted at children. That's why the stories were so light-weight and transparent (yes, even Empire). Many Farkers will dispute this, but at Christmas of 1977/78/79 millions of Star Wars action figures, land speeders, Millennium Falcons, etc. were found under Christmas trees. Alien came out in 79, and I don't recall any of my friends getting a Ripley doll or a Nostromo play set (with real xenomorph face-hugger!!). Those toys came later when adults started collecting them in the 90s.

The first series captured the imagination of a generation. When the prequels came out that same generation went to see them expecting movies where they were the target audience. Problem was that 20 years had passed. Star Wars fans had grown up, but the movies hadn't. They wanted "Blade Runner" but got "The Black Hole".

The new series might target a more mature audience, but I doubt it. The real money is in marketing toys to kids, so the movie will be aimed square at them.

/For the record I love Star Wars, but I see it for what it is.

As an actor you probably would want to take a varity of projects so you dont get typecast, but you would also want to limit exposure before people get sick of seeing you.

This.  Between the second and third series of Sherlock, a day hardly went by when you didn't read about Cumberbatch appearing in something, being casted in something or rumors that he was being considered for something.  It was a bit much.
