BooBoo Stewart and Fan Bingbing - those are their real names, not X-Men names

Fan Bingbing might be her real name, she's a Chinese national and I don't think they run on SAG rules, but BooBoo Stewart is most definitely  not his real name, it's his guild name.   American actors in union-contract productions (i.e. most of them) have to have a unique credit-name as part of their guild contract so as not to interfere with other members' careers.  This is why a lot of actors randomly use their middle name all the time as well.  Even similar-sounding names to other actors are frowned on.

In this case, using Wikipedia... the guy's real name is "
Nils Allen Stewart, Jr." His father also works in Hollywood (he's a stunt man) so by guild rules the kid had to either keep the "Jr." in his credit-name for his entire career (changing your screen name is significantly harder than changing your legal name-- a lot of people that hit the big time just change their real name to match the screen name for convenience) or just farkin' make something up.  Honestly I can't really argue with his choice on this one, that's kind of a nerd-ass name and the 'Jr' just takes it to 11.

// This isn't all that uncommon, though usually people swap the last name instead.  Michael Keaton goes by that, for instance, because there was already a SAG registration for Michael Douglas.
// Gets a bit silly when the other person registered with SAG doesn't ever actually make it into any IMDB-worthy movies so it seems like they just randomly made up a stupid name for no reason.

Seems like a lot of actors have work that credits them differently (even leaving aside obvious typos). Like Laurence Fishburne a/k/a Larry Fishburne a/k/a Laurence Fishburne III. Machete Kills has four actors credited "as" including Charlie Sheen as Carlos Estevez.

Eh... it's one of the most popular runs in the entire X-Men line, and it gives Fox a chance to bring the casts of First Class and X2- the two best movies in the series- together, while (hopefully) retconning the shiatty X3. The name is stupid, but it's well known by fans.

Ah yeah. I hear ya. I'll go see this mainly for the nostalgia. I enjoyed the "Days of Future Past" comic run and the animated series version of it. But, I have a feeling this is just going to turn into "Days of Wolverine's Chest."

The Headline is a play on a character's name.  There is nothing 'blink or you'll miss it' in the video.  The purple 'portal' girl is 'Blink'.  She was not a character in Days of Future Past, but was later a character in an expanded look at that alternate reality called 'Age of Apocalypse'.

Well, I will say one thing for the FoX-Men this time around: They're actually using their powers and looking somewhat correct in doing so, instead of standing around moping and talking about their powers.

I may pay to see this, but that's because I don't give a shiat about mutants in the MCU (I don't want the mutants there at all. Mutants just mess things up.)

I will NEVER pay to see Sony's Spider-Man though. I wish others would follow that example so that Sony stops profiting from the film rights and has a reason to sell back to Marvel. Until they stop making wads of money on Spider-Man, they will not let him go.

My first complete comic series was the x-men: age of apocalypse. It was the team with rogue, morph, blink, etc. Morph and blink were my favorite characters from those books. Morph, tied with Slapstick, is my favorite marvel character.

With that said, I still am not that excited for this.

I think that this is a naive hope.

Even if Sony actually stopped making money off of Spidey (and, really, there's no limit to how deep they can milk that property), they'd still rather sit on it rather than returning it to Marvel, preventing Marvel from gaining even more capital for their MCU project.

It's precisely the popularity of the MCU that'll motivate Sony to hang on to their chunks of the Marvel enterprise with a death grip.

All I've wanted out of this series for the past 14 years is to show me my favorite mutants using their amazing powers to take down giant robots.  I mean, it should be a no-brainer.  Powers vs. robots for 2 hours.  Also less Wolverine.  I get it, he has metal bones and an attitude problem.  I figured that out 14 years ago.

I don't disagree. However, Sony HAS to make a Spider-Man movie (or a spin-off) every 7 years or the rights go back on the block for the highest bidder. If they aren't making money on them, then they'll be making expensive movies with no payback just to hang on to the film rights.

I know... It won't happen. Sony's contract is "in perpetuity" unless they fail to make that movie every 7 years, and there are enough suckers out there who pay to see them that it would be nearly impossible for them not to break even, at least.

I think Marvel Studios' only hope is to develop a character who is just a hell of a lot LIKE Spider-Man. Give him all the things that make Peter Parker and Spider-Man great (the comic versions, not the awful movie versions) and just a slightly different power-set, a different name, and a similar-but-different-enough-for-legal-purposes supporting cast.

I don't see why they couldn't make an original Spider-Man inspired hero for the MCU. I'd see it. Most Marvel fans would.

I recently watched "X-Men: First Class" followed by "X-Men" (first movie), and realized that's what I liked the least about most of the X-movies -- Xavier vs. Magneto works great, Wolverine vs. his creator (Stryker) works great, but Wolverine vs. Magneto just... meh.

It's about personalities. Xavier and Magneto are two sides of a coin; Wolverine vs. Stryker is about a man seeking out his past. But not only can Magneto completely defeat Wolverine with a wave of one hand, they don't even have any overlap. Just because they're the most popular X-Man and X-villain doesn't mean you throw them at each other and expect great things.

The original series that "The Wolverine" was based on ended in an awesomely drawn claw-on-sword fight between Logan and Shingen (Frank Miller FTW), with Logan expecting to lose the love of his life no matter which way it went. The movie ended in an effects-laden fight between Wolverine and a guy in a giant robosuit and a year-long vacation overseas. Not nearly the same dramatic punch there.

The best thing Fox could do with the X-Men universe is start it all over again like Sony did with Spider-Man, but stop making Wolverine the main character and keep it as Xavier vs. Magneto.

Only one I recognized before they used a power was Bishop. I kinda liked Colossus in the quick scene in the (first?) X-men movie. I've always liked his original look the best for some reason.

I'd never heard of Blink before, and it took me watching it a second time to really recognize Warpath, although the hair was actually a giveaway.

It looks fun, but everyone wearing black is gonna get boring.

It's funny, at first it seems like a horn-dog question, but it actually is an interesting question... I would think there was a prosthetic underneath to cover the lady bits, like panties without a waistband.
