Maybe it'd work if you just argued it was an accident and you thought there was a ridge below the one he was on. It's worth a try, at least.

I don't think she understood the gravity of her actions.

Due to simple minded emotional facts and emotional science , she should be released on a short term parole !

When push comes to shove, she's afraid of love.

I see. They offered a plea deal to get a reduced sentence because hey, she was the only party to witness it while he was alive, then threw the book at her.

/I bet he really did slip.

Jesus who the hell made that graph?  It appears to describe some Appalachian region where women are sallow, chain-smoking mothers of five by the age of 19, and men are broken down meth heads by their early 40's.  Or a pedo who hasn't ever had sex with a female over the age of 14.

That's what happens when you're ignorant of the law.  She should have read at least one legal textbook--or at least the Cliff Notes version.

I think it's more in terms of having children, not attractiveness. (although women are more likely to have that cliff where they can slip off and just become not hittable, or can coast on to middle age and later gracefully like Cindy Crawford and the like)

Uhmmm...

read your profile.

still laughing at your comments on sex. I have one suggestion. Under men add in parenthesis: optional if still fresh. I think you can figure out exactly where.

In the unlikely event we ever meet... I will happily buy you a drink or two and we can shoot the sh!@t if you are interested... no strings attached.

The bride was quoted saying "This would not have happened if my late husband would have eaten the poisoned mushrooms".

Not really. If someone dies when you commit a crime, in this case assault, you are liable for what happens to them. The argument that you thought it would be ok doesn't fly in court. It wasn't.

For a woman, using my wife as an example, to be considered hot after 35-40 takes a lot of work and vanity. More than simple gym time, it takes great luck at the genetic lottery. Heck, most women are hitting the wall (hard) at 30. Yeah, nature's unfair to both sexes.

Women from about 13/14 to 28 have the guys begging for attention. Nature flips the script at about 30, and suddenly women are the beggars. A 30 year old guy can date any number of attractive 20 something's. Heck, an old dog like me can easily date 20 something's.

You do have to be in shape and have a decent job. Women get their 20 odd years of relationship power first, men get theirs second.

Frankly, I believe her husband's family should be given five unsupervised, immunity-filled minutes with her in the same cliff.

/thankful for our incredibly sweet and sane daughter-in-law

Wolf892: He deserves it. Any woman who would do that was obviously in deep pain due to the emotional or physical abuse she was suffering at his hands.
She's the real victim here.

This is why the Abused Wife defense is such a slippery slope.

It certainly was. They were on their honeymoon when she did the deed. (Been married all of three days, IIRC)

Sorry. You're the one that decided to murder your husband. Your plea deal allowed you to plead guilty to second-degree murder, in return for not being tried for first-degree murder and making false statements - basically, you took a deal to avoid a possible death penalty sentence, and you knew that your sentence could be as long as life in prison. You don't get to change your plea because you don't like the resulting sentence.

The consequences are commensurate with the crime. Next!

Shouldn't be against the law to fall in love.

Looks like she's still playing the victim. Kind of like when the story first came out and she said she tried to save him and then described someone getting pushed off a cliff.

2014-04-14 08:32:10 AM
It could be worse; she could have been a professional vulcanologist when she got married.

/btw, i wonder how many farkers have been sacrificed to volcanoes...

Boy, she really... murdered him by pushing him off of a cliff, to a probably horrifying death!

I find it funny when the judge throws the book at the defendant after a plea deal, and the defendant gets all pissy because the DA had suggested 5-10.  The DA doesn't tell the judge how to sentence, the DA only promise to stop follow up prosecution if a guilty plea is given.  I don't recall a judge ever allowing a guilty plea to be withdrawn.  I applaud the judge and hope her appeal is laughed at in open court.
