So, Tea Partyer?

There are no sub machine guns in Illinois, they're against the law.

Actually, I don't know of any .22 sub machine guns in the first place, but that doesn't mean they do not exist.

look, we get it, it is fark. but google the name of the gun in the article might be the FIRST place to start.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intratec_TEC-22
"Over its production run, the TEC-22 suffered from various quality control issues. For example, some were recalled because they were firing automatic bursts.[9] "

We can assume that people are able to mod the gun to fire full auto, he had a defective one that was missed in the recall, or the paper use "sub machine gun", when it should have use semi-auto. or all three.

2014-04-13 09:00:51 PM
And to think it could have all been avoided with a simple "take a penny, leave a penny".  Who the heck has $2.01 for a soda?

2014-04-13 09:02:10 PM
Increase by 22 cents? That's actually a lot. About 12% of the cost, and double what the tax was a week ago. I'd be pretty pissed myself.

Let the bears pay the bear tax; this guy pays the homer tax.

You rarely see a tax protest of that caliber

All he wanted was a Pepsi. Just one Pepsi.

Over $2...for flavored water....the most expensive part is the bottle....which costs ~$0.02 to make.

Holy crap. Maybe it really IS just a loosely affiliated group of concerned bipartisan citizens in favor of low taxes and smaller government.

I'm going with "some got converted to full auto illegally, therefore all must be assumed to be full auto."

OTOH there are prominent people who think semi-auto means spray and pray, so you may be right on #3.

Got to keep it real.
Also, I live in nowhere Nebraska so why is my c store 2 liters twice the price of Chicago?

And yet, I bet you have a big issue with prisons being overcrowded because of marijuana convictions.  Am I right?

No doubt, this guy is a total idiot.  But 22¢ tax for a bottle of soda?  Seriously?  That won't dissuade people from buying it; it'll just piss them off.  But hey, nothing like using the government to punish people you don't like, right?

Or more likely, it looks like one, so ergo it is one... to a lazy reporter

/had completely forgotten about those cheap POS's

"So he allegedly pulled a blue-steel Intratec .22-caliber submachine gun out of his Gucci satchel ..."

So this guy is carrying a not-cheap submachinegun in a Gucci satchel, and he's worried about .22 cents? When "Keeping it real" goes wrong.

I don't think taxes went up on it. I think he saw the price on the shelf and didn't realize tax is added at the register.

We cannot assume anything as the gun wasn't fired. We really don't know if it worked at all. We do know that without some modifications which would need some tools and know how that someone robbing a convenience store would have access to. I'll put money on it not being a sub machine gun in any way, shape, or form.

I don't buy unless they are 99 cents. Between CVS, Walgreen's, Wal-Mart, and Target, I usually can get that any time.

2014-04-13 09:46:54 PM
A rather quick GIS showed Intratec does not make or has never made a .22 caliber sub machine gun.
But don't let facts get in the way of pushing gun hysteria.

Lol yea because everyone with a gun with a plan to shoot up a place got their gun legally.....

This "is my neighborhood, I'm tax exempt!" he would later allegedly tell the cops.

What, does he think he's a church?

submachine gun

Sure. Whatever.

This "is my neighborhood, I'm tax exempt!" he would later allegedly tell the cops. "Man, you know what, I'll keep it real. I had to put them in their place." Because I'm Nahshon Shelton. I'm special. I'm the only Nahshone around. Did I tell you that special name makes me special and it's up to me to put people in their place? It's NaHshone. Spell it right. You should know that there is an H before the S. And after. Everyone should know that. Because I am special.

Words like "this is my neighborhood" and "I had to put them in their place" makes me suspect the shop owners were either Asians or Pakistanis.

Not all racists are white guys.

Give subsidies to agribusiness for growing corn.

Tax poor people that drink corn.

Makes perfect sense!

2014-04-13 09:52:49 PM
So he's pissed about 22 extra cents, but he's buying at a gas station where the price is probably double what it is at the grocery store across the street?  Lrn2 shop, tard.

serial_crusher: Increase by 22 cents? That's actually a lot. About 12% of the cost, and double what the tax was a week ago. I'd be pretty pissed myself.

Check that, 11 extra cents.

Uh, there was no increase and there is no grocery stores across the street on the west side

Committing a felony because of an amount of money that most people would not bother to bend over and pick up off the street? That's some clear thinking there chief.

It doesn't really matter the specific type of AK-47 it was, the point is it was some type of full assault AK-47.

So it's perfectly reasonable and acceptable for some doofus to attempt to hold up a corner mom & pop for 22 fking cents on a goddamn soda pop.

Someone has to pay for socialized medicine, it looks to be the soda drinkers.
