abhorrent1: cameroncrazy1984: abhorrent1: IronTom: abhorrent1: Watching for the first time tonight and finding it quite boring. Though I find NDT quite boring in general.

did you really need to share that?

Did I hurt your feelings?

Yep, you trolllin. Boring.

I'm not trolling. I've seen these threads every week but have abstained since I hadn't seen the show. Figured I'd watch it tonight and share my opinion in a thread I thought was about discussing the show. But apparently on fark, if you're not giving NDT a rusty trombone, you're just a troll. Sorry I crashed your circle jerk.

Actually, you're supposed to give him a Cleveland Steamer.

I do hope you stick around, though; don't judge it on a single episode. You may find Neil boring, but try to get into the subject matter--it really is mind-blowing stuff. And I say that as a person who has worked professionally as a scientist for the last 26 years.

No, it's evidence that the internet has provided an environment where nutjobs can congregate and reinforce each other's views.

The minority has always been there, they're just more vocal now.

I am an old fart.  I remember the original Cosmos very well.

What I find disturbing is that there was a greater acceptance of science decades ago than now.  The amount of Creationist-Christian-Crazy that this series is generating 25 years after the original is depressing.

There is much more religious nuttery squawking and whinging than last time around.

Is that because it was "hidden" from religious ignorance on PBS?  No. I don't think so.

Their indignation is evidence our society and culture are going backwards.

Now, that presents a minor problem for the movie Sunshine. When Scarecrow, Captain America, and Moria McTaggert fix the Sun by blowing up the Q-ball that fell into it, it would take 10 million years before the "fix" to work its way through the Sun  so the Earth would die anyway.

cyberspacedout: Empty H: Johnny Texas: I was surprised to find out the other day that Seth MacFarlane is an executive producer on this.

This almost makes up for all his cartoon crap.

He's said that he wanted to do something worthwhile with the money that came from all of the cartoon crap (not in those words, of course). It was either in an interview several weeks ago on The Daily Show or an article I saw linked on FARK, or both.

Surprised the heck out of me - I never would've guessed that he would be the one to finally put something intelligent on Fox.

I had heard that as well. I think it is great he is trying to do some good.

In an environment like this you really expected to not be questioned about your opinion at all?

If you're not trolling, you're just dumb.
