(Boston Herald)   If you set anything on the ground during the Boston Marathon, cameras will report it as a possible bomb. So you might want to leave small children at home if you don't want them detonated   ( bostonherald.com) divider line

Ahh, the safety from terrorists fallacy - assuming that a terrorist will use the same exact method twice. Terrorists are opportunistically evil - they will observe anti-terrorist efforts and adapt. Might be a better idea to work on protecting folks from tactics they *haven't* used..

"Unfortunately, since 4/15 things have changed," Boston police Commissioner William B. Evans said.

I really believe that any time we fundamentally alter things because of real or attempted attacks, the terror won.

After 9/11, when they were taking submissions of concept for the WTC, I voted for one that looked like a giant flip-off to the sky.

Because Fark them, that's why.

Summer Glau's Love Slave: Baby bombs? Well, that's kind of novel. Sounds like something the Joker would do.

"Waaa! Waaaaaaaaaa!"

*BOOM!!!*

/I am of course engaging in graveyard humor.
//I really don't want to see anyone get hurt.

It's okay.  We know you're a horrible person.  So are we.  That's why all of us are here.

However, possession of a camera will still be considered assault of an officer.

If Bostonians had any kinship with their revolutionary relatives, they would stage a "backpack party" with thousands of people abandoning backpacks for their fascist overlords to inspect.

They should have to run naked also.

I'd rather watch naked runners than naked spectators, ew.

austin_millbarge: This is so stupid. And nothing will happen this year, or the next, or the one after that because nothing was going to happen anyway... and eventually they will relax these rules and forget about it and all this overreactionary handwringing will have been for nothing but to inconvenience and frighten people.

/home of the brave?

Agreed. I believe the bombing was an isolated event, and it's unlikely that someone would try it again. Especially in the manner that it was carried out before, they hurt a lot of people yeah, but it was nothing compared to 9/11.

You assume that terrorists are smart.

Also, does this mean that I can bring my children to Boston and purposefully set them on the ground if I'm beginning to grow tired of them?

Now if I can just convince the Old Lady to sit on the sidewalk and take a nap under this nice comfy tarp (the one with pressure cookers stencilled all over it) while we wait for the race to start I could save a bundle on divorce lawyers

Ryker's Peninsula: If you have more than a feeling that a package is suspicious, or if you see it smokin', don't be afraid. Run and don't look back to keep your piece of mind

Especially if you see Mary-Ann walking away from said suspicious package. It is Boston after all.
