Is it supposed to just link to  http://msn.foxsports.com/mlb?

Francouer is, and was, an absolutely terrible baseball player.

Fox Sports appears to have nuked the article into oblivion.  Here is a similar story on the NY Daily News:   http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/video-francoeur-teammates- p rank-thinking-pitcher-deaf-article-1.1755085

Maybe I'm oblivious, but it seems the victim of the prank had a good amount of reinforcement from everyone else about the pitcher's deafness.  I just don't understand how a person should assume someone with a disability is faking it when everyone is telling that to him.  While I find pranks and deception amusing, is the obliviousness mainly regarding the visit to the pitcher's mound and the catcher speaking through his glove, or is it something else?

No video of him "communicating" with him?  No video at the restaurant?  Lame movie.

Look, if being able to hear was important, they would put it on the scoreboard.

That's what I thought about everyone calling him an idiot. If everyone tells me a co-worker is deaf, I'm not going to try to prove otherwise.

Yeesh. That's either the worst swing I've ever seen or one vicious slider.

Or the ball was pitched outside and is on its way to first...

/note where the catcher's glove is. Had that pitch actually been that far outside, I'll go ahead and guess that the catcher wasn't planning on just watching and waving at it as it went by...

True, but it's amusing how nobody doubts that Francouer  would swing at a pitch that far outside.

Hence the comment at Deadspin I really liked, "just wait until Francoeur finds out about the career-long prank about every pitch being a strike."

Even so, it looks like he's reaching out pretty far for it. Even the barrel ring is just touching the edge of the plate.

Or maybe a hit and run was called.  That means you swing at it no matter what.

Frenchy has had his moments. Looks like he's about done now -- he's already been in 3 different systems this spring, I think.

I've never heard any indication that he's anything other than a nice guy who can make outfield assists every day of the week so I hope he makes it back to the bigs soon.  Anyone who dressed A-Roid down is a good guy in my book:

"Francoeur made an impression with Team USA in the World Baseball Classic when he confronted Alex Rodriguez after A-Rod berated a clubhouse kid for bringing him the wrong sandwich."

Yep, true that. He was a favorite in Atlanta with fans and players alike; would get a lot of love whenever he came back.

I think you're giving him too much credit. He wasn't exactly known for his discipline; he averaged just over 100 K's per season, and now he's making a living being criticized by AAA ball players for being an "idiot" for something that was more like, "not an inquisitive asshole".

That explains everything!  Jeff Francoeur's managers have been calling a hit-and-run when he's up for his whole career, even with no one on base.

He seems to be one of those guys that is just plain likeable. I loved the whole Bacon Tuesday thing with the Oakland fans.

This. It's entirely in keeping with the Jeff Francouer experience.

You know, I would have fallen for that as well. If a guy was playing deaf, and my whole team was playing along, and the guy's wife was playing along, I doubt that I'd have scrutinized the guy to think he was faking a disability.

The biggest idiot here is the editor who put Jeff Francoeur on the cover of Sports Illustrated.

This just felt mean-spirited to me, and is going to negatively impact his ability to trust his teammates.  Poorly done.

Dude's got a helluva cannon. It's a shame he has no plate-discipline.
