(TSN)   It's time to use & then put away the razors. The NHL regular season ends with 10 games today starting at 12:30 ET. With the second season starting Wed night, it's time to shake off the winter blahs & get your fingers warmed up & ready to play   (tsn.ca) divider line 118

/go habs...need one more for the wall

Or at least one in the past 20 years.  :)

Won't argue that point. But better chance this year than the Leafs!

/on a side note ... raise a glass of your favorite beverage to Ryan Smyth's retirement

One last Devils start for Marty. Let's go.

2014-04-13 03:14:12 PM
And the Avs take the central. Woot!

Regardless of what happens in the playoffs, this already is a success for the Avalanche.

2014-04-13 03:20:48 PM
NBC is showing "Stars on Ice" instead of hockey right now, this is very annoying.

Goal, New Jersey!

1-0 NJ

0-0 Bolts/Caps, start 2nd.

Johnson just got speared hard.  Damn, no cup by the looks of it.

2014-04-13 04:37:40 PM
Still 0-0, end 2nd. Both teams playing good defense.

Except for that spear.

See you soon, brothers and sisters. I was one game short of the badge last year. Not happening this year.

LGR!

Damn. Good chance, nice save by Holtby.

Will you be playing along this year despite the Devils?

Well, we'll see.

NJ killing a penalty the last 1:10 of the season.

2014-04-13 05:23:13 PM
And we get OT.

Lindback has looked very good since Bishop's injury.

3-2 NJ, final.

Win #688.

Going to shave the face-fur off tonight... but I have this sinking feeling that it won't be lasting until June. Losing to the Caps and Preds in the last two games? Not a good sign.

I also doubt I'll be eligible for a badge this time around.

GO HAWKS!

They'll be alright.  They've been extremely short-handed these last few weeks (especially last night), but everyone should be back for the playoffs.  I was actually impressed with how many they won the last two weeks without Kanes and Toews.

Bolts at home, and tied their last cup win regular season record.

Lightning win the shootout. Lindback is perfect.

See y'all in Tampa on Wednesday.

After attending last nights Leafs/Sens tilt I'm so happy for playoff hockey.  That was some of the most horrid play I've ever seen two teams put on.  It'll be nice to see games where the players actually care.

Everything is decided now. Home ice advantage team listed 1st:

East-

Boston v Detroit
Tampa Bay v Montreal

Pittsburgh v Columbus
NY Rangers v Philadelphia

West-

Anaheim v Dallas
San Jose v Los Angeles

Colorado v Minnesota
St. Louis v Chicago

We might have a schedule by the end of the night

2014-04-13 06:20:47 PM
Since Blues games are blacked out always and Hawks games are when the Wings are playing, the Avs were the team I watched on Center Ice all season.

My husband works in Denver every other week and went to several of their games, so I've been on the Avs bandwagon since Roy was hired. Hawks can win too and I'll be pleased enough. CBJ will be my East team.

TL;DR: GO CENTRAL DIVISION.

With not much going on that could be considered "important," I can deliver a few facts here:

Boston: It's easy to win the President's Trophy when you have the most regulation wins (47) and fewest regulation losses (19). Strangely, they were below .500 in shootouts (3-6)

Buffalo: Fewest regulation wins (11 and 2nd worst had 20) and most regulation losses (51, 6 more than 2nd) and they still have a game to finish

Florida: Only winless team in the OT period (0-2, but 8-6 in the shootout). Their 2 losses ties for fewest losses in the OT period (Philly, San Jose and LA. Anaheim is at 2 losses as well, but they have a game to play).

Columbus: Fewest SO losses (5-2), tied with Pittsburgh but PIT has 1 game to finish

Washington: They had the most games go to a shootout (21), they tied San Jose for the most SO wins (10)

New Jersey: I think we all know by now that they went 0-13 in the SO. But they went 9-5 in the OT period. If they had won 6 of those SOs, New Jersey would've been a playoff team. Just be decent, Devils.

Colorado: Most OT period wins (10-3)

Chicago: Didn't win a game in the OT period until last week (1-7 in OT) and well below .500 in OT/SO games (7-15)

I may have more later.

We have a round 1 schedule.

Montreal @ Tampa opens things up on Wednesday.

Detroit @ Boston game 1 isn't until Friday for some reason

What the holy fark?

That screws up our Thursday family dinner night with my Wings fan and then screws up the Saturday matinee I was so hoping for. Fark you Bergman.

The Buffalo Sabres were so bad...

How bad were they?

They were so bad that last season's Pittsburgh Penguins outscored them. And they only played 48 games!

/PIT- 165, BUF- 157

Oops, I screwed that one up pretty good.  I turned the Ducks/Av game on at 9pm when it was supposed to start & saw that the score was 1-0 with 19:56 on the clock....  How in the hell did they score that fast?  Oh, 2nd period.  Ah well, I'll have my game face on by Wed..... sigh.

/nice to see Teemu with the "C" on tonight
//hope to see him in at a minimum another 16 games (somewhere less than 28 though, I don't know if my heart would stand three-four game 7's to get to The Cup...)

I see the fact machine will be fully operational.

This pleases me.

Well, considering my team has MASSIVELY disappointed me; I have to bide my time until Wednesday somehow.

/At least for the 1st time in 5 years, I know there's a next season!

So, should I honour the first-round sit out that was imposed because I lost that Olympic bet to OL?

I would do it without question usually, but because far more people hate him than myself, I figure I'd put it up for debate.

I'm far more entertaining anyhow.

Woo hoo, Ducks goal.

Maroon has picked a really good time to get on a hot streak.  Having four reasonably dangerous lines is a good thing this year (although I do miss the 06/07 3rd line, man they were good at their job)

As I was saying...

It's a damn shame that this Stars-Yotes game isn't for the final playoff spot.

Good way to end the season 116 pts, 54 wins

/too bad Teemu didn't get another point to wrap up his career

2014-04-13 10:37:47 PM
Now that's REALLY cool.  Teemu just dragged Jiggy out to center ice with him for a fairly long circle around the ice.  HUGE roar from the crowd
