I took me far longer than usual to figure out that it was satire. Poe's Law indeed.

Seriously this. Someone put a lot of effort into that site to make it look real. I don't think it took me that long to figure out Christwire.

And what is haroldry? Is that a misspelling of heraldry or is it related to Harry Potter?

I had to have it pointed out to me. It was sadly convincing.

Not only that, but the Supreme Court decision that declared that secession is illegal was Texas v. White in 1869.  The decision stated that states cannot unilaterally secede from the Union, and thus actions of the Texas legislature to support secession were null and void.

Texas actually brought this case themselves, and argued that point, because people were demanding payment for debts the Confederate-era government had racked up.  But I guess that's how "states rights' people have always been: "states rights" are all well and good until suddenly you're the one picking up the tab.

This, sadly.  I didn't even question it.  I just sort of thought, "Well, that does sound like something they would do."

Protesters allege the show is blatantly promoting an anti-Creationist agenda and is 'standing against the Judeo-Christian moors and values of the Saddleback Township community and others nationwide."

I thought the whole reason they didn't like the Moors was because they weren't Christians (or Jews).

No state has the right to secede. Texas does have a clause in its accession agreement allowing it to break itself up into 5 smaller states, but that's never going to happen.

As I was reading I found myself hoping it was satire, but I had to come to these comments to find out for sure.

Kudos to whoever created that site, although since it's so well done it might cross from satire to just plain lying.

It is no longer possible to parody conservatives. The scenario they present is 100% consistent with the kind of mind blasting stupidity we've learned to expect from the American right.

More like this sort of thing would happen in a lot of small rural towns if the people living there thought political engagement was something people who are homogay socialists do.

Saddlebridge Township gave that away. Usually townships are an East Coast/Great Lakes thing.

I'm guessing they're making fun of the OKC Fox station that "accidentally" cut away from a part of the show that was talking about evolution.

I live in Flyover Country & I thought it was pretty well done. I had to read the other articles on the page including the one about Putin & Kim Jong Un's gay relationship to figure it was satire.
