Everybody knows that the best pizza is in Naples.

Oh dear. You've gotten pizza confused with casserole again.

The best pizza is in Italy, but it's cold by the time it gets here.

winchester92: The best pizza is in Italy, but it's cold by the time it gets here.

After spending 5 weeks all over Italy eating pizza everywhere I went I really missed American style pizza, it's just better. That being said, the best pizza I had in Italy was at a hole in the wall restaurant that was only open 3 or 4 nights a week in Vernazza in Cinque Terre. The sausage was so damn good.

Begun, the pizza wars have.

I don't think much of native New Yorkers - they all want to move to the South. But, of those that have moved here, I'll tell you this - we have an incredible Italian/NY style place here that just nails it. Pizza-wise they kill it. The rest is  just good.

But that lunch special - for cheap - it's like half an extra-large pizza - you get one topping per side (2 sides max - heh) - and it is Glorious.

Oh come now. The best pizza is in Lansing, Michigan...

Rest in Peace, Ms. Grimaldi. I'm sure your pizza was/is also superb.

/There is enough room in this world for so much delicious pizza.
//NYC, Chicago deep dish, Chicago stuffed, Detroit style...
///The important thing is pizza

Chicago doesn't make pizza.

They make a wonderful pizza casserole.

The best pizza is made in Greek pizzerias in Boston.

But that is what I grew up with, so what do I know?

I guess if you grew up eating cold puke, you might just to eat cold puke.

Why is puke such a funny word?

Only because the italians moved out of NY and went to the suburbs (Like NH).

There is no "best" pizza.  It is a matter of opinion.
I hope all you internet people have a nice day (or night).

Not if you consider a grease trap the most delicious thing in the universe.

I have never eaten a slice of pizza that I really like. Much like bacon, I think it is a food only white people obsess over.

I've covered about half the country in the last 6 months and it amazes me how any places claim to serve a Chicago Deep Dish Pizza when they're actually serving pan pizza.  A Chicago style pizza has the crust bent at a 90 degree angle, rising up the side of the pan and  the sauce goes on top.  The lip of crust contains the soupy casserole.  I just had a [delicious] pan style pizza that was sold as Chicago Style at a pizza place with Chicago in the name.  And it's a freakin' chain.  How can anyone decide to go into business selling a product without doing the least bit of research to understand the product they're selling?

Absolutely delicious fancy-schamcy brick-oven pizza, but unfortunately they don't sell by the slice since they're more of a restaurant than a pizzeria. Never been to the famous Brooklyn one but they have a location in bumblefark Queens I went to fairly regularly when I lived nearby.  Due for another visit.

/love that shiat, go-to date spot since it shares a parking lot with a movie theater

Whenever I read through a thread like this, I want a Star Trek-style food replicator.

Plus, with a replicator, I wouldn't need an all-night pickle delivery service.

They have a Grimaldi's here in Vegas and it is very good. My only complaint is that I have to order extra cheese to get enough cheese to my liking on the pizza. But it has always tasted great.

Place that has good Pizza you wouldn't expect? Tucson.

No idea why, but there are actually multiple extremely good pizza joints of varying styles. Not like "OMG THE BEST EVAR!!!1111one" but amazingly good and who the hell would think Tucson for pizza?

Tell you what. Since I'm living in the ass-end of nowhere and have never tried either actual NY or Chicago styles, yet have impeccable taste in all things, I can be very objective about this. You guys need to send me a couple of slices of each (and throw in New Haven, for the farker that brought it up), and I'll tell you which is best. It's the only way to settle this once and for all time.

A fat soggy loaf of bread with ketchup on it ain't pizza, Chicago.

We have a Grimaldi's in San Antonio, two actually, and it's awesome. I think they key is they use a coal oven, which only a few places in NYC still can.

2014-04-13 08:07:36 AM
Walking across the Brooklyn bridge in a foot of snow to get Grimaldi's was a highlight of my last trip to NYC. That and seeing Letterman.

I have two sads.

Chicago style pizza is a casserole. Real pizza is not a casserole, so saying Chicago style pizza is the best implies you don't even know what the fark a pizza is. Par for the course for Americans. Create something that has nothing to do with the original, then co-opt the name. Football, pizza, democracy. It's the American way!

Not at all, just sick of people arguing over shiat that you could literally take 5 seconds to verify. But then hey, that's the american way! Starting wars over things that are obviously false!
