This stuff keeps up and we're gonna need a SPLIFFY tag.

Can't they just make an app for that?

Wouldn't this not be allowed under the same laws that took away all the cigerrate vending machines?

I see vending machine fires in the near future.

At 1/4lb it's not just a candy bar- it's a meal that sends you into a 3 day coma.

And cigarettes too.

FTA :

Again, the machine is for medical marijuana patients only.

Uh huh.

All you need is a trained squirrel. Put them in the machine, they go and drop all the bags, and you take them out.

No.

You can't buy alcohol in vending machines.  I don't even know if you can still get cigarettes anymore in vending machines.  They are not going to sell a drug that requires verification of age, in vending machines.

I'm not a stoner but I'm a drunk, can't I get a vodka martini in a vending machine in the near future?

I'm thinking the catch is these days it is more feasible to scan the ID for age requirements. Kids can steal their parents ID and medical card, but it still is an extra step of prevention.

My local bar still has a cigarette vending machine, but of course the caveat is that you need to be of drinking age to be inside the bar.

From TFA: "You'll need to have a valid medical marijuana card and your ID will have to be verified before you can get anything out of the vending machine."

I know of one cigarette machine. It's in a bar, where minors aren't allowed anyway. I only remember because I was surprised to see they still exist.

Japan's the go-to-country here.  They know how to make vending machines that can dispense anything.

Anything.

Okay, so I can see MJ vending machines in those situations.  The age requirements are similar to alcohol.

I remember the cig machines from when I was a kid, although I would love to visit a country like Japan where they have almost anything you could want in vending machines.

Beer, cigs, used panties, toys, porn, and so much more. Not that I would want the panties, but you know, I'd pick them up for a friend.

It's been the law in many places that cigarette vending machines can only be in places where you have to be 21 to enter.  I quit smoking, but think it might be cool to have one in my basement along with the pool table, bar, and stripper pole that I'd sort of like to have down there too - along with some strippers.

And because I only quit smoking.   I still want a cigarette.

Apparently most of these medical vending machines get installed somewhere inside the dispensary - and a lot of dispensaries have either a bouncer or a "patients only" swipe card entrance IIRC. I haven't seen any news about them being set up for recreational sales quite yet. That being said, I'd predict a court battle over that issue if/when national legalization happens - just another of the "kinks" to be ironed out when rolling up a new industry...

It will also invite youth gangs to hang around them and rob buyers.

It's pretty exciting to think that it could be legalized federally in the next decade or so. I wonder if it'd improve my anxiety.

Gotta second that. I think it's gonna happen this time - there's a lot more working for it than the brief time during the 60s where folks thought it might. i mean, 75% of america basically views it as an inevitability, and that includes the detractors..

Since you sound pretty anxious for it to become legal, I'd say yes.

yeah for my mom it was Lucky Strikes a Double Cola and I could keep the change. Man you could buy a bagful of penny candy,a comic book and still have change left over for later.

You can still find cig-vending machines in places where under-18 is prohibited. No reason these couldn't follow similar rules.

Willie Wortel's in Haarlem still has these as far as I know....
Just put them in an age-controlled AREA.
