Geez, and they said Nick Drake was obscure.

Should have crapped his pants like Ted and stayed in the States.

If you've ever watched The Wire, you'd know at least one of his works

Don't know if I've ever listened to his music sung by him, but as a sorta-Parrothead I totally have heard his music before.  Fitting that the last song Jimmy did of his is "I Wave Bye-Bye:"

I'll wave bye bye
I pray God speak
I wish you lovely weather
More luck than you and me
You'll only sail in circles
So there's no need to cry
Oh I see you again one day
And then I'll wave bye bye.

RIP, songwriter man.

I only found out yesterday that he wrote Biloxi. Makes sense, it never sounded like Buffett's voice in that song.

He wasn't obscure back in the day.

'Let The Rough Side Drag' ftw.

Still no cure for "battle with cancer" cliche.

Some people battle. Some people stoically take their meds and endure their chemo. And some people say "I'm 87, I'm not going through that for a 10% chance of three more years", and slip quietly into the night at the moment of their own choosing.

When somebody dies, is it too much to ask that we respect and report the actual facts of their passing, rather than reaching for the nearest tired cliche?

I met him when he played a house concert in upstate NY about 10 years ago. Great talent, and very humble. RIP, Jesse, I loved your music and thank you for it.

The "he also wrote" list off of Buffett's discography is about twenty or thirty songs long, at least.  Surprisingly though, he wasn't on  License to Chill.
