(Emirates 24/7)   When your "chiropractor" tries to help you quit smoking through acupuncture, you probably should be a bit suspicious. When his treatment includes choking people in his bathroom until they pass out, you probably should just run away   (emirates247.com) divider line 47

Shouldn't "chiropractor" always be in quotes?

b2theory: Shouldn't "chiropractor" always be in quotes?

I don't think so. That would imply that "real" chiropractors aren't quacks, only fake ones.

Chiropractors are not doctors.

Now now. I have an actual 100% bona fide degree in chiropractic and I will hear none of that. As proof here is a scan of my credentials.

I mean, there are other studies that have come to the opposite conclusion

But it's very unlikely to cause any harm so if it helps you, why not?

And also very frequently if he's trying to help you with back pain.

The original doctrine of chiropractic was that every disease or malady was caused by a misaligned spine.

...my chiropractor said that every disease or malady has been caused by not enough sex. His treatments are generall 5-7 minutes long, twice a week.

Is... that not right?

Can I just point out acupressure and acupuncture are different? One involves needles, one involves just pushing. Chiropractors are glorified masseuses anyway, if he had done it on a table instead of in the bathroom it probably wouldn't be such a big deal.

It's mostly crying, not so much cuddling. He's very emotional.

Well, there's something you never saw on "House".  His method is a little crude, with no scientific research to test its efficacy.  I'm going into the doctorin' business, with only good looking women as my patients.  Yes, there will be long and through breast exams, some new age mumbo-jumbo, maybe some ether, you know a holistic approach.  I'll either be driving a new Porsche or in jail, so it's going to be kind of a crapshoot.

Clem has previously stated that he believes that oil is abiotic. So it's likely that no conspiracy theory is too far out there for him to believe in.

Yeah, you'd think this notion that oil does not come from biological sources (i.e. it's not from fossils) would really appeal to "young earth" creationists, but it seems to be too batshiat even for most of them.

A placebo is an idea.  Ideas can do stuff.  Just like you can sometimes use psychotherapy or CBT to treat physical symptoms.

Since I'm old, I remember it.  Old enough to be interested in cosmology just as Hoyle, Bondi and Gold's Steady State cosmology was being sent to history of science's scrap heap.  IIIRC the abiotic oil business really started after Steady State went down the drain.  Gold wasn't an idiot, even though he was completely wrong on a couple of major theories.

/Old enough that there was a still a debate whether quasars were relatively local objects with strange properties or objects moving at relativistic speeds and at cosmological distances.
