Same here, FlashHarry.  You couldn't pay me enough to subject myself to that amount of assorted dickery.

Wasn't the last Woodstock like Altamont for mud-wrestling rapists?

Heh. I just found out my brother is going to that. He's always been a hipster though

Heh...sounds just like SXSW to me, but with Motörhead.

Can we all find the person who names these festivals and put him in a small box somewhere in the middle of the desert? Every festival sounds like it's ______________ for assholes.

Get off my lawn, etc.

Like so many of our lives: it could have been something so much better, and it just gets worse each year.

The original Woodstock was, too. It's just like any other nostalgic concept - your first experience is always better than what follows, and the farther you get from it, the less you remember the bad parts.

A music fest is a music fest is a music fest. Unpleasant weather, overpriced concessions, and hundreds and hundreds of unwashed morons who can't handle their drink/substance of choice in a public setting. Personally, I'll stick to indoor concerts for music and less-crowded park campgrounds for spending time outdoors.

I went to the first 10 Coachellas, and the final one I attended was so completely over-packed with douchebags like the ones picture in TFA that I said "FARK it."  I can't stand farking hipster dickwads dressed in "indian" feathers and facepaint.  The finla year I went, there was  a group of these dipshiats running around doing "war whoops" with their hands on their mouths.  It took a lot to not cuss them the fark out.

You know how you can tell if you are a douchebag?  You can't.  That's the problem.

That's kind of the thing. I'd have loved to gone the past few years and I don't usually cheap out on live music, but I can't imagine spending a bare minimum of $500 to hang out in the desert with a bunch of assholes who think that's reasonable.

I'm going for next weekend.

I was there in 2005,6,7 and 8. Didn't go the last few years for various reasons.

Looking forward to being back on the polo fields, even if things have changed.

Some posters here sound poor and bitter.

Doesn't take an old person to be annoyed by a bunch of trust-fund hipster White people playing "injun dress-up" with feathers & face-paint.

No, Chloe, denim undies are not obscene. You sucking Vince Gallo's  kawk on screen; that is obscene. Only cause its Gallo, though

I believe it, watching it on youtube over the last few days you get the impression that everything the article mention lines up with what is being shown on the screen. Not to mention more than half the bands on the bill are just terrible. This cochella was like a salute to bad 80's music. Way to much trash. Also sitting here watching Fatboy Slim do a live set makes me shake my head. The guy has fallen to some pretty crappy levels. Back when he was spinning vinyl and the few times I saw him in the US while he was doing that opening for the Chemical Brothers he could throw down. Even his live mixes that were on the internet were solid, this recent set was an embarrassment. The thing about his DJ technique at least back in the day was that he would toss around music and cut things up, not to mention he had a unique way of tossing in some classics. More than half his set was just "eat sleep rave repeat" nonsense.

I love Coachella even though I never want to go there. Because it serves a useful purpose -- I call it a 'quarantine' festival. It's for all the commercial club hoppers and frat farks and douche hipsters and celebrities and other nonsense to attend and have their great time. But more importantly, it keeps them away from crashing the underground festivals with the genuine people and superior music.

We need big, bloated, mainstream horse shiat festivals like Coachella around, to quarantine all the rotten shiatbag people from crashing the good festivals.

For years I've been trying to figure out why I would go to something like Wacken Open Air in a heartbeat but you couldn't pay me to go to Coachella.

I had a great time at the first one. I keenly remember everyone was insanely pumped when RATM came on, all these people were pushing towards the stage. But then RATM started playing and the placed erupted. All those folks were fleeing the pit in droves.

Went back in the day & had fun. Then the one after 9/11 they used terrorism as an excuse to prohibit water & do body cavity searches & the lines to enter were so long I saw multiple heat strokes & it was the closest I've ever been to joining a riot.

Never again.

Yeah this.  My brother's acid trip was peaking right as they took to the stage...let's just say I had to babysit him through pretty much the whole set.  He thought we were all gonna die.  lol
