Benevolent Misanthrope: WTFDYW: Benevolent Misanthrope: Admit it, guys - you don't know Jack Schitt.  You narrowed it down to 600 km2 - looking for a 747 in an area the size of Chicago - and you still haven't got dick.

Go find it then. You seem to be all knowing.

It's not my job, nor am I qualified to do underwater searches.

I am, however, qualified to say, "STFU until you know something more, assholes."  I'm not against the search efforts.  I'm against a daily highly qualified statement saying, in essence, "We may know approximately where the plane may possibly be, but we aren't letting that information out yet until we are completely certain."

Fine.  You don't know.  Still looking.  Stop milking the news cycles.

OK. I'll give you that. I'm just interested because a little more comes out every day or two. I hope it gets found faster than the AirFrance flight from a few years ago.

/sorry if i got you riled up.

No need for an apology, not riled.  Just explaining my position.

abhorrent1: I wonder if they set it down whole like that guy did in the hudson and it just sank like that with everyone in it.  I mean, if it otherwise plowed into the ocean it would have likely broke into a million pieces and something would be floating.

If they managed to pull off a ditching there would have been life rafts and they would have been picked up promptly--they have transmitters.

Proximuscentauri: I know it's near-hopeless getting a fark commenter to educate him/herself, but here are some links to consider.

Anyone ever read this document?

I read that thing about ten years ago. It was a hoax.

Operation Northwoods was absolutely definitely real

I think they actually have it narrowed down to a few square miles.

However, the source could actually be a lair of underwater aliens. When we discover their hidden civilization, they will come up to the surface and enslave us. We will wish no one ever began the search for that damn plane.

Underwater base missions aren't too bad, once you've researched the Plasma Lance and the Blaster Launcher.
