Interesting thing to think about, someone with as much money as that fruitcake doesn't even have the cash to become a majority partner.

Amazing how selective and restrictive the ownership group has gotten.

So if they do they'll move them to Toronto?  Would still be less annoying than Trump.

But we can't let fans build a shared corporate ownership, because league rules need to prevent another decades-long disaster like the Packers.

There are plenty of potential buyers with western New York ties, and speculation that vetting has been going on for a while.

I really, really hope the Bills stay in WNY.

There will never be another franchise in major sports like Green Bay. Ever.

There's too much power and money at the top now, and since they make the rules, they have no reason to change. Sad but true.

you could probably startup a shared MLS team, can't be that expensive

David Beckham has been working on doing that down here in Miami for years now. However,  I said 'major sports', so I'm not sure this qualifies

Trump has nowhere near the money necessary to become anything other than a minor ownership partner.

This.  And I would bet that after one generation that the returns would be spectacular.  Not that I'm into soccer, but kids today are and it's gaining popularity.  Assuming MLS is competently run it'll eclipse baseball in about 25 years.

I know. Won't keep him from talking about it like he's the full owner and taking credit for anything good they may do though.

Golisano has, in the past, stated that if it really came down to it, he'd buy the team to keep them in Buffalo.  Pegula has made similar noises.  Between the two of them, they should be able to come up with the funding, plus the $400M penalty for breaking the stadium lease should scare down the price to anyone who wants to move the team, so I'm fairly optimistic that they'll stay in Buffalo.

Of course, if someone is willing to make a truly outrageous bid, all bets are off.

From what I've heard it sounds like the team will stay in Buffalo.  Goodell grew up in Jamestown NY (about 90 minutes south of Buffalo, solid Bills territory), and the state of NY (where the NFL is based) really wants to keep at least one team actually inside the state, so it seems like they have a lot going for them on top of the lease.

It was done. They're called the Green Bay Packers. It even had the sainted nameds of both the franchise and their most heated rival stumping for cash in hard times...for BOTH teams. (Yes, Halas did fundraising for the Packers. As did Lambeau and Lombardi for the Bears)

The deal probably won't be too much of an obstacle. The new owner will just wait until 2020 (which conveniently also gives time to get their new stadium in order). Not ideal and will decrease their value, but it isn't like there are a lot of teams on the market.

Why don't they expand the CFL? Seems like it would  get boring watching the same couple of teams all the time.

There actually are 32 CFL teams. It's just that 29 of them are named the Roughriders, so you see how it's pretty easy for yanks to get confused.

Seriously though, it was the Philadelphia Soul that he owned with Jaws and a few others... who are back in the "brought back" AFL, with Jaworski still a part owner, but, Bon Jovi is no longer involved.
