Tokyo chief of police was quoted as saying "We really haven't got a pot to piss in on this case."

I didn't realized they'd opened any Taco Bells over there.

Hanami get a little crazy this year?

I was playing the news video just now and my Japanese boyfriend chimed in with the usual Nihonjinron response to this situation:

"Hmm...Must have been some foreigners.  Japanese don't do it.  Maybe Korean or Brazilian people did it."

/Luckily, it's ironic when he says it.
//Not so ironic to an awful lot of other folks.

There're more public toilets in that one park than in the who SF Bay Area. And fewer tourists, I bet.

You seemed to have missed the absolute perfection of the joke...

"Authorities have squat to go on"
In Japan, the traditional "toilet" is not the western sit on it toilet, it is a squat toilet.... so subby was spot-on.

Suspect is hatless and possibly tentacled.

That's kind of elegant compared to the hole in the floor and garden hose they provide in India.

Was there a Taco Bell nearby? That would explain the whole thing right there.

Let me just nip this in the bud right now.  There are no Taco Bells in Japan.  Well, not counting military bases.  We don't even have a Taco Time.  No Chipotle.  No Burrito Boys.  No Pollo Loco.  No Taco Del Mar  Nothing.

Nothing.

The most you'll find is the occasional taco stand selling flour tortillas filled with canned tomatoes and luncheon meat.

The only Mexican restaurant I can think of off the top of my head is El Torito which serves your basic small town American version of "Mexican food".  I've eaten at a few others that were even more disappointing.

/Now I await all the Japanese farkers to chime in with their Mexican restaurant recommendations.
//Please?

Hell, I'd kill for even an El Torito in Hong Kong.  I know there is a supposed Mexican taco place in Midlevels (Hong Kong island) but if its like all other "western food" in this town, it's gonna be shiatty and overpriced.

I never thought I'd say this, but even Taco Bell would be great.

I was guessing as much, lol (it was a joke, btw). But maybe they have something like a Spring Roll Hut sorta thing (that's a non-existent restaurant btw)? Spring rolls before you cut them are kinda sorta somewhat like burritos.

Garden hose?

You must have been in one of those upper class toilets.

The ritzy places provide an old woman holding a mop.

I still don't know whether or not they expect a tip.

Hmm wonder where they are getting the new toilets? Wonder if any criminal types might be getting some money out of this supplying the new materials.

How does one wreck a turkish toilet?

It is sort of like ruining a hole in the ground.

I suppose you could crack some porcelain or break a pipe, but there is no fun with a tower of porcelain being smashed to bits.

NakedApe,

The concept is social services are not considered evil in all countries, and that government exists to service it's citizens.

Also Japan may not hate homeless people to the point of cutting off it's nose to spite it's face.

\I may be corrected on that last point.
